Hello Colleagues!DEEC are able to attend your schools to conduct incursions whilst professional learning workshops and campswith DEEC have been cancelled until the end of this term. Excursions at offsite venues are available as longas the groups (including teacher and DEEC staff) are less than 20.Incursion Brochures (K-6) and (7-12) are attached to end of newsletter.REMOTE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES.The Environmental and Zoo Centres (EZEC) have created a range of resources to support teaching and learningfrom home. The resources were developed by Department of Education teachers from 25 Environmental andZoo Education Centres in NSW. Some resources are designed for teachers, others are designed for studentuse. The types of resources include: Google Sites, worksheets, virtual field study programs on differentbiomes, and many more curriculum based programs. These can be accessed via our school website’s home pageunder Remote Lessons, or sign into your google account and put in these links.K-6 - eEnvironment Life

The team at Dorroughby are, as well as contributing to the EZEC library of remote resources, busyconverting our most popular programs into remote learning lessons. For K-6 teachers we havecreated 4 local history lessons, 3 science lessons and 5 Maths in Nature lessons. These lessons don’tneed internet access, have elements of outdoor learning and include hands on activities. For Secondary teachers, we have chosen our most popular Geography/Biology field studyprogram – Brunswick Heads field study – focusing on local Mangroves and Littoral Rainforestand created a online field study lesson based on DEEC’s existing program. This google sitelesson enables students to work through their work booklet with resources embedded into thegoogle site. It includes videoed experts; history and geology components; virtual beltvegetation and abiotic transects, virtual quadrats and field sketches.DEEC also has developed a Stage 4 – Water in our World – Geography online field studylesson that digitalises on our Year 7-8 excursion to Rocky Creek Dam; as well as a HistoryCurriculum support resource – The Rise of the Environmental Movement in the NorthernRivers, N.S.W/AustraliaThese can be accessed via our website (https://dorroughby-e.schools.nsw.gov.au/), under theheading ONLINE LESSONS. You will need to log into your google account and follow thelinks.DEEC 2020 Art Camp for Year 5Our Gifted and Talented Visual and Performing Environmental Arts camp has been moved back toTerm 4 this year - Nov 17th – 19th 2020. This year we will build skills in film making with adocumentry on how young people can address feelings about climate change, digital photography,create theatre in the bush, partipate in a drumming for self expression workshop and much more.Schools are to nominate ONLY 3 stage 3 students who are environmentally minded and artisticallygifted.
