Occupational Safety and Health for Oil and Gas Well Drillingand Servicing Operations1 Scope1.1 CoverageThe purpose of this document is to recommend practices and procedures for promoting and maintaining safe andhealthy working conditions for personnel in drilling and well servicing operations.1.2 ApplicabilityThese recommendations apply to rotary drilling rigs, well servicing rigs, and special services as they relate tooperations on location. It is intended that the applicable requirements and recommendations of some sections of thedocument be applied, as appropriate, to other sections. The recommendations are not intended to cover seismicdrilling or water well drilling operations. These recommendations do not apply to site preparation and site remediationoperations.1.3 ResponsibilityEmployers have the responsibility to identify, communicate, and mitigate hazards at the work site.
