This appliance has a polarized plug (oneblade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intendedto fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit into the outlet, reversethe plug and try again. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do notattempt to modify the plug in any way.LINE CORD SAFETY TIPS1. Never pull or yank on cord or the appliance.2. To insert plug, grasp it firmly and guide it into outlet.3. To disconnect appliance, grasp plug and remove it from outlet.4. Before each use, inspect the line cord for cuts and/or abrasion marks. If anyare found, this indicates that the appliance should be serviced and the line cordreplaced. Different countertopfinishes and surfaces are effected differently by heat. Use care not to place griddleon any surface where heat may cause a problem. Do not operate the griddle on afinished wood countertop or table.It is recommended to operate this appliance on a separate outlet and circuit fromother appliances to avoid overloading the circuit.

REMOVABLE TEMPERATURE CONTROL PROBENOTE: Use Rival Removable Temperature Control Probe ONLY (NP-01A). Do notuse any other attachment plug or control.Alignment: properly align theLocking Switch: to attach,temperature control probe with start in the up position andthe terminal post on the griddle. then push downward to lock(after aligning with the griddleterminal post).Release Button: to detachthe temperature control probe,press the release button andgently pull the handle awayfrom the griddle.Connecting the Removable Temperature Control Probe:1. Ensure that the temperature control probe is unplugged from a wall outlet and onthe OFF setting before attaching to the griddle. To attach the temperature controlprobe to the griddle, the locking switch should be in the up (vertical) position.2. Align the temperature control probe with the terminal post of the griddle.3. Gently slide the temperature control probe forward until it meets the pan.4. Push the locking switch downward until a click is heard.5. Before using, ensure the temperature control probe is locked into place and makesintimate contact with the griddle. If the temperature control probe is loose it is notassembled correctly and the griddle will not properly heat.6. Ensure the dial is in the OFF position.7. Plug into the wall outlet and then set dial to desired heat level.8. The griddle is now ready for use.Disconnecting the Removable Temperature Control Probe:1. Turn the dial to the OFF setting and unplug the cord from the wall outlet.2. Allow griddle to cool before disconnecting temperature control probe.3. Firmly press the release button which is located on the side of the temperaturecontrol probe. The locking switch will release.4. Gently pull temperature control probe straight out to avoid any damage to thetemperature control probe or the terminal post of the griddle.5

HOW TO USE1.2.3.4.5.6.Position the griddle on a dry, level, heat-resistant surface. Different countertopfinishes and surfaces are effected differently by heat. Use care not to place griddleon any surface where heat may cause a problem. Do not operate the griddle on afinished wood countertop or table.Make sure the drip tray is properly in place. DO NOT OPERATE GRIDDLEWITHOUT DRIP TRAY IN PLACE.Connect the temperature control probe to the griddle according to the instruction inREMOVABLE TEMPERATURE CONTROL PROBE section.Insert plug into wall outlet and rotate the dial to desired temperature setting(see chart below for reference). Allow griddle to preheat approximately 10 to 15minutes. When griddle reaches selected temperature, the power light will go out.NOTE: the power light will cycle on and off during cooking process asthe thermostat maintains the selected cooking temperature.Prepare food for cooking and place on griddle for time indicated below or in recipebeing prepared. Cooking temperature should be adjusted based on a combinationof the food being prepared and personal taste preference.When finished cooking, rotate dial to OFF position, unplug from wall outlet andallow griddle to cool before moving, cleaning, storing, taking off or putting on parts.NOTE: when serving or removing food from griddle use a non-metal heatresistant utensil. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCEThis appliance requires little maintenance. It contains no user serviceable parts. Donot try to repair it yourself.1.2.3.Before cleaning, turn the switch to the OFF position, unplug from outlet and allowto cool. After the appliance has cooled, disconnect the temperature control probe.Before initial use and following each subsequent use, wash the griddle indishwasher or in warm soapy water.
