SYLLABUS 2020-21DAV PUBLIC SCHOOLS, ODISHA ZONE - IICLASS - VIII1.There will be Three Periodic Tests & one Annual Examination. 2. The Scholastic Area includesone Final Examination of 80 marks and internal Assessment of 20 Marks. The InternalAssessment of 20 Marks will be reflected for Term-I and Annual Assessment.3. The 20 marks Internal Assessment will include 05 marks for periodic tests, 5 marks for multipleAssessment,5 marks for portfolio & 5 marks for Subject Enrichment Activity.4. Three Periodic Written Tests will carry weightage of 05 marks each in all major subjects.Average of the best two tests (out of three) will be considered for Final Internal Assessment.Details of Periodic Written Tests.(A) Pre - Mid Term Periodic Written Test- 20 Marks(B) Mid Term Periodic Written Test- 80 Marks(C) Post - Mid Term Periodic Written Test - 20 Marks5. The 5 marks for Portfolio includes journal/note book & 5 marks for Multiple Assessmentincludes Oral Test, individual /group work / field work / quiz / role play etc6. For the enrichment of the understanding and skill development of students in differentsubjects, respective subject teachers will conduct four subject enrichment activities of 5 markseach throughout the year. Out of which, two will be conducted before Mid - Term Periodicwritten Test and other two will be conducted after Mid - Term Periodic written Test. The bestone of 1st two activities will be taken for 5 marks of 20 marks internal assessment of Term-IAssessment & the best one of all the four will be taken for 5 marks of 20 marks internalassessment for Annual Assessment.Activities for different subjects.(i) Languages: - Activities for subject enrichment in languages should develop effectivespeaking and listening skills.(ii) Mathematics: - Laboratory activities and projects.(iii) Science: -Practical works /activities.(iv) Social Science: - Map works and Project works 7. The dates for Periodic Written Tests andFinal Examination have already been fixed by the Examination Committee of the Zone afterconsidering all aspects. However, they may change in certain unavoidable circumstances.8. Minimum 75% attendance is a pre-requisite criterion for promotion to the next higher class.9. It is mandatory for a student to appear in all the tests and activities. In case of sickness duringtests or examination days, immediate information must be sent through application withmedical certificate to the Principal. However, due to genuine reason, absence in one of thePeriodic Tests may be permitted where average of the rest of the tests will be taken into account.10. The performance of a student in scholastic areas will be reflected in terms of marks as well asgrades (8- Point scale) in the Report Card. A student has to secure minimum 'D' grade (33%marks) in Annual Weightage in each subject for promotion to the next higher class.2

Students will select oneor more forms of creative art.Health & PhysicalEducation(sports/MartialArt /Yoga/NCCetc)The P.E. TeacherHealth & Physical Activity preferably sports must begiven a regular period. Students should be providedopportunities to get professionally trained in thearea of their interest.
