OUTCOMESOn completion of the course you will haveacquired the theoretical and practical skills andprofessional values to practice as a clinical nursespecialist, registered with the South AfricanNursing Council. This will enable you to practicein this capacity in the South African healthcaresystem. Your scope of practice will allow you to: manage complex clinical problems usingcritical and creative thinking; interpret and implement research findings andother innovations; render quality patient care using systematicinformation, science and technologyappropriately; develop nursing science through researchinvolvement; carry out a cost analysis of areas of thespecialist services; set clinical standards and measure quality ofcare; define and accept responsibility forindependent nursing practice; develop and implement operationalleadership, managerial and teaching skills; improve policy decisions; provide cost-effective service; improve patient outcomes; investigate and solve service care problems; act as a resource for health workers; assist with the implementation of nursingdevelopment and new concepts into practice;and teach patients, nurses and other healthworkers in the specialised field of study.You can advance your career in nursing by furtherstudies.
