OUR HISTORY & MISSIONFounded in 1870 by “America’s First Family of Inventors,” the Stevens family, Stevens Institute of Technology is a premiertechnological research university with a legacy of leadership in fields including engineering, finance, cybersecurity andcoastal resilience.Stevens graduates co-founded both General Motors and Texas Instruments, engineered the world’s first urban power plant,engineered and erected the steel frames of New York City’s Empire State Building and Chrysler Building, and directedthe design and preparation of spacecraft modules for NASA’s Apollo moon launch missions. ACCREDITATIONThe Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, an institutional accreditingagency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Commission on Recognition of Postsecondary Accreditation,accredits Stevens Institute of Technology. Stevens Institute of Technology has been continually accredited by the MiddleStates Commission on Higher Education since 1927. Stevens is accredited until 2027 and the next self-study evaluation isscheduled to take place during 2026-2027.The following programs at Stevens are currently accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology(ABET): biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, computer science, electricalengineering, environmental engineering, engineering management, mechanical engineering, and engineering with navalengineering concentration.The chemistry and chemical biology program at Stevens is approved by The American Chemical Society (ACS), acongressionally chartered independent membership organization which represents professionals at all degree levels and inall fields of chemistry and sciences that involve chemistry. The Chemistry Bachelor of Science Degree is certified by ACS andthe Chemical Biology Bachelor of Science Degree can also be certified if certain courses are completed.All of Stevens’ undergraduate and graduate business programs are accredited by AACSB, placing Stevens among the5 percent of business schools globally to earn this distinction. AACSB provides internationally recognized, specializedaccreditation for business and accounting programs at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels. Some Stevens master’sdegree programs in project management are accredited by the PMI Global Accreditation Center for Project ManagementEducation Programs. Academic IntegrityACADEMIC INTEGRITYê Honor System for Undergraduate StudentsThe Stevens Honor System is the rigorous ethical and moral standard to which undergraduate students are held, and whichseeks to ensure that all academic work is bona fide. This standard was formally established in 1908 with the creation ofthe Stevens Honor System as well as its governing body, the Stevens Honor Board. The Honor System at Stevens fulfills twoobjectives. First, it seeks to ensure that work submitted by students can be trusted as their own and was performed in anatmosphere of honesty and fair play. Second, it promotes a sense of honor and integrity throughout campus and for Stevens’students in preparation for the professional world.Enrollment into the undergraduate student body at Stevens Institute of Technology signifies a student’s commitment to theHonor System and the University’s ethical and moral standards. It is the responsibility of each student to become acquaintedwith and to uphold the ideals set forth in the Honor System Constitution. Specific student responsibilities include: Maintaining honesty and fair play in all aspects of academic life at Stevens Writing and signing the pledge, in full, on all submitted academic work Reporting any suspected violations to the Honor Board Cooperating with the Honor Board during investigations and hearingsStudent responsibilities are further outlined in the constitution and bylaws of the Honor System, which may be reviewedonline at www.stevens.edu/honor.The Honor Board is the Honor System’s governing body. It is comprised of undergraduate students who are elected bytheir peers. Members of the Honor Board investigate all suspected breaches of academic integrity, and assign penalties tostudents who are found responsible for Honor System violations. When investigating a case, Honor Board members meetwith the accused student, pertinent witnesses, and relevant faculty. The investigation culminates with one of three outcomes:the case is dropped due to insufficient evidence to support the suspected violation, the accused student confesses, or ahearing is held and the case is presented to a jury of the student’s peers.The Honor System also includes a two-level appeals process. Any student who believes the Honor Board did not properlyfollow procedure or who is dissatisfied with a penalty after confessing or being found responsible by a jury may appeal to theAcademic Appeals Committee for a reduced penalty. If unsuccessful, the student may submit a final appeal to the Provostor appointed designee.ê Graduate Student Code of Academic IntegrityThe Graduate Student Code of Academic Integrity holds that integrity is essential to the ethical pursuit of knowledge andis expected of all Stevens graduate students in all academic endeavors including coursework, research, scholarship, andcreative activity.While all members of the Stevens Community have a responsibility to uphold and maintain the highest standards of integrityin study, research, instruction, and evaluation, the Graduate Student Code of Academic Integrity is concerned specificallywith the conduct of graduate students.Stevens Institute of Technology 2020-20216

Academic IntegrityBy enrollment at Stevens, all graduate students promise to be fully truthful and avoid dishonesty, fraud, misrepresentation,and deceit of any type in relation to their academic work. A student’s submission of work for academic credit indicates thatthe work is the student’s own. All outside assistance must be acknowledged. STUDENT LIFEUndergraduate Student LifeThe Office of Undergraduate Student Life fosters learning experiences for all students at Stevens through intellectual,personal, and social development that occurs beyond the classroom. We prepare students holistically through leadershipdevelopment, co-curricular programming, community engagement, and dialogue around inclusion and diversity. We striveto create a community of learners that think critically and act responsibly both within the Stevens community and beyond.Specifically, we advise and provide organizational support to more than 100 student organizations, facilitate Diversity Programsand Safe Zone, oversee the Lore-El Center for Women’s Leadership, and oversee Fraternity and Sorority Life at Stevens.Additionally, our office coordinates annual campus wide programs from Orientation and Techfest to First Year Family Weekend.The Stevens campus community is always brimming with activity and diverse offerings for involvement outside of theclassroom. Students participate in informal get-togethers, cultural celebrations, musical performances, community service,and more. Throughout the year, there are also off-campus trips, comedy nights, recreational excursions, and other activitiessponsored by the Entertainment Committee. Additionally, the Student Government Association sponsors annual events suchas the Founder’s Day Ball and Techfest, Stevens’ annual music festival.For students interested in developing their leadership skills, the Office of Undergraduate Student Life hosts three leadershipprograms through Stevens LEADS (leadership education and diversity series), in addition to a yearly leadership retreat andworkshops.
