The motto of the manch is to work for the welfare of the society.History: Sh. Eknathji Ranade, a social acitvist started Vivekananda Kendra, aspiritually oriented service mission in 1972. For actualizing vision of SwamiVivekananda , the Kendra has more than 225 branches spread all over India towork in all phases of the society for welfare of the nation. To achieve thisVivekananda Kendra carry's out various service activities through Yoga, SwadhyayVarga (Study Circle), Samskar Varga, Rural Development, Education, Developmentof Natural resources and message of Swami Vivekananda, Indian Culture, Vedicstudies.MISSION:"Man-Making and Nation Building""An aggregate or a congregation of men does not make a nation, nor doesthe geographical area but duration of time qualify a society to be knownas a nation. A government formed on such former basis can be called astate, but not a nation. It is common goal or mission that makes a nation.All the constituents strive collectively for something noble. Service withspiritual orientation results in man-making which invariably andinseparably connected with nation building." It is the core of all thethoughts behind Vivekananda manch.

Events Description:1. Shaheedi Diwas:The event on 23rd March was in remembrance of Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru andSukhdev Thapar. The martyrdom of these legends is observed every year by the club asShaheedi Diwas. An expert lecture for students was also organized to inculcate a feeling ofresponsibility towards nation.2. Gender Championship:Quiz competitions for freshers were organized revolving around the theme “Indian Cultureand Heritage”. The championship was to check the awareness of students towards the richculture and heritage of our country.3. Hindu Nav Varsh:29th March was celebrated as the Indian New Year The importance and how meaningful ourNew Year is was told in a talk given by representatives from Vivekanand Kendra, an NGOworking towards betterment of society.4. Yuva Sammelan:Inter college debate competition, essay writing competition, quiz competition. Thecompetitions were organized to motivate the youth to contribute to the country. Declamationcompetition on “Geeta Jayanti” was also organized to celebrate the day.5. Shishu Mandir:Two members of the club voluntarily teaches underprivileged students from Monday toSaturday. The members go to Milhard Colony (a suburb 15 min from campus) where theyteach the needy in a local Community Center from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Around 15 to 20students are regular in the class6. Raahgiri:A fun with fitness event where students mimic the dance steps of the performers on the stageor do their own moves. The dance moves are centered at increasing the flexibility and agilityof the body. Also, dance helps to increase the endurance. The event sees a footfall of over1500 students from and outside the university.

7. Deshbhakti ki shaam:It was a singing and poetry contest where many colleges and universities were invited to singa song or recite a poem on the theme of Patriotism and Welfare of the nation.8. “Atulya Bharat” play:The event was organized to showcase various phases of the timeline of India. The rising ofIndia after the Independence and its various achievements. The much-believed scientificexplanation of some old Indian rituals (like Indian New Year). The golden future of India.

9. National Youth convention:A two day National Level convention where many college and universities participate. QuizCompetition, Debate Competition, Essay Writing and Poster Making are various events of theconvention. Also many speakers are invited to give talks to students for their betterment.10. ”Indian Army” play:Depicting struggles of a soldier: The Skit showcased the struggles and challenges faced bythe soldiers defending us. It had various scenes of life of a soldier. The determination of asoldier to serve the mother nation was one of the main thing that was to motivate the studentsto do something for their country.

11. Tree Plantation:The event was organized by the university. The club participated in the event with anoverwhelming strength. Plants our planted at various location in and around the campus ofthe university.12. Arise Awake Achieve Workshop:The workshop was organized on the occasion of Universal Brotherhood Day. The aim was tohelp students be confident and motivated in life. Various group activities were organized inthe workshop. On the spot play making was one of them. The response was even better.Almost 70 students participated in the workshop with most of them asking to organize theworkshop again.

13. Nutan Chatra Abhinandan:For greeting new students: The event is focussed on greeting the freshers in a traditionalmanner where they are given a talk by a renowned Social Worker on how to live the life of astudent and at the same time contribute something to the nation.14. Talk on “Samartha Yuva Samrasta Bharat”:A talk on the given topic was organized by the club in which an imminent social worker helpedthe students to understand the need of harmony among various sects of society. Also presenton the occasion were a retired IAS officer.15. National Conference on National Education Policy and its challenge:Conference was held in the university in collaboration with Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal on thegiven topic. Chief guest was Shri Mukul Kanitkar Joint organizing secretory of bhartiyashikshan mandal.

16. Group Discussions in Boys and Girls Hostel on various topics:GDs were organized in boys and girls hostel every week on Monday. The topic of these GDsvaried from social affairs, general awareness and technical knowledge. Some of these wereBrain Drain, Is technology killing our jobs, Straight trees are cut first-should we lie or not etc.17. Various competitions (Poster, Declamation, Essay) under Vigilance Awareness Week:Central Vigilance Commission(CVC),as part of its continuous effort to involve public as activeparticipants in ensuring a "Corruption Free India”, observes Vigilance Awareness Week everyyear. This year university organized competitions with the theme “My Vision: Corruption freeIndia”.Various functions of the club are:1.2.3.4.Works on boosting up confidenceFree classes for poor studentsTree plantationOrganize events that create awareness about various social reformers andfreedom fighters5.
