She holds an Ergonomic Certificate from Colorado StateUniversity. In 2013, she earned her CEAS Credential (Certified Ergonomic AssessmentSpecialist), with an emphasis on improving the health and performance of dentalpersonnel by creating safe in-office workstations.Acting as a liaison for clinical dental healthcare workers, Cindy provides corporateconsulting, strategic development and training for dental industry manufacturers. Sheworks in professional relations with key opinion leaders for manufacturers that focus onergonomic products used by dental healthcare workers.Cindy continues to keep her clinical skills sharp by providing dental hygiene services inher hometown in rural Colorado and is a member of the CARES healthcare team at theDorcy-Corwin Cancer Center in Pueblo, Colorado.Additionally, she provides ergonomic education for dental hygiene students through aneducational grant provided by Orascoptic.PAGE 1

These are bills that languished in the legislature last year, buthave managed to pass the Assembly early this year! Good for the public anda victory against Big Tobacco!! To read more about these bills, check capitol-alert/article22928928.html. Thinking of Tobacco cessation always brings to mymind ways to improve my clinical oral cancer screenings. A patient of minewho works with California medical brought to my attention a new systemcalled OralID, that can provide fast, inexpensive and easy clinical imagingwith a small device that can attach to your smartphone, can you sayAWESOME!! We will once again be doing an opportunitydrawing for a new Crown Seating Ergonomic Clinician Saddle Seat Chair,which is valued close to 900, so if you missed the last one, here is yourchance to improve your back and your life.Also at the March 29th CE, we will be holding elections for the 2016-2017EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBERS (President, President-elect, VP ofProfessional Development, Recording Secretary, and Alternate Trustee/legislation). I have thoroughly enjoyed representing SDCDHS as Presidentthis past year, and am excited to run again as President if I am so lucky as tobe voted in. It is a great honor to be of service to all of you in any capacity Iam able to fill. The tables werebeautifully decorated with purple and white orchid centerpieces arranged by KrystlelynMendoza Paras. Attendees included Registered Dental Hygienists along with dental hygienestudents and their faculty from Concorde, San Joaquin, and Southwestern, Colleges. SusanClark gave a lively and informative presentation on “Breaking the NO Barrier with Patients”.This meeting allowed the attendees to interact with and receive product samples from variouscorporate exhibitors. It also gave the students an opportunity learn about our localcomponent and to see SDCDHS in action as it elected it’s 2016 CDHA HOD delegates.PAGE 7
