Chief GuestMr. Kailash SatyarthiNobel Peace Prize LaureateNobel Peace Prize winner Mr. Kailash Satyarthi has been at the forefront of the globalmovement to end child slavery and exploitative child labour since 1980. Child labor isa human rights issue that has staggering effects on poverty, illiteracy and humanity.Mr. Satyarthi and the grassroot movement founded by him, Bachpan Bachao Andolan(Save the Childhood Movement), have liberated more than 83,000 children fromexploitation and developed a successful model for their education and rehabilitation.As a worldwide campaigner, he has been the architect of the single largest civil societynetwork for the most exploited children, the Global March Against Child Labor, whichis a worldwide coalition of NGOs, Teachers’ Unions and Trade Unions active in 140countries. Mr. Satyarthi’s efforts led to the adoption of ILO Convention 182 on worstforms of child labour in 1999.He is also the founding president of the Global Campaign for Education, an exemplarcivil society movement working to end the global education crisis and GoodWeaveInternational for raising consumer awareness and positive action in the carpet industry.Mr. Satyarthi is a member of several High Level Groups on Child Labour and Education.As one of the rare civil society leaders he has addressed the United Nations GeneralAssembly, International Labour Conference, UN Human Rights Commission, UNESCO,etc. and has been invited to several Parliamentary Hearings and Committees in USA,Germany and UK in the recent past. He has also been conferred some of the mostprestigious awards from countries like US, Spain, Netherlands, Germany and Italy,among others.In 2014, he was jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for “struggle against thesuppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education.”4

MahindraChairman and Managing DirectorMahindra and Mahindra LimitedMr. Anand Mahindra graduated with Honours (Magna cum laude) from Harvard College,in 1977 and secured an MBA degree from the Harvard Business School in 1981. Mr.Mahindra started his career at Mahindra Group with Mahindra Ugine Steel CompanyLtd. (MUSCO) as Executive Assistant to the Finance Director and in 1989, wasappointed President and Deputy Managing Director of that company. During his stintat MUSCO, he initiated the Mahindra Group’s diversification into the new businessareas of real estate development and hospitality management.During his tenure as the Deputy Managing Director of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., in1991, he initiated a comprehensive change programme in Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.to make it an efficient and aggressive competitor in the new liberalized economicenvironment in India. In April 1997, he was appointed Managing Director of the Companyand in January 2003 was given the additional responsibility of Vice Chairman.Today, the Mahindra Group is a US 16.7 billion organization and one of India’s top 10industrial houses. The Group has evolved into a socially and environmentally responsibleglobal federation of companies with a leading presence in each sector in which it ispresent.Under Mr. Mahindra’s leadership, the Mahindra group has grown beyond making steeland tractors. Today, the Group is present across the automotive spectrum – two-wheelers,three-wheelers, commercial vehicles, SUVs, MPVs to sedans, tractors, and evenpowerboats and aircrafts. All this showcased India’s engineering prowess on the globalstage. In addition, the Group’s diversified nature of business spans many frontiers –automotive components, Finance, Insurance, IT, Retail, Real Estate, Hospitality,Logistics, and After-Market. It has also grown inorganically, seizing opportunitiesacross the globe.Mr. Anand Mahindra is associated with various organizations in India and abroad. He isthe co-founder of the Harvard Business School Association of India, and a co-promoterof Kotak Mahindra Finance Ltd., which in 2003 was converted into a bank. As a leadingindustry figure, he has served as President of the Confederation of Indian Industry andhas also been President of the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). Healso served on the Boards of the National Stock Exchange of India and the NationalCouncil of Applied Economic Research, and as a member of the Council of Scientific& Industrial Research. Mr. Mahindra currently serves as the Honorary Ambassador of5

Foreign Investment Promotion for the Republic of Korea. He is a member of theInternational Advisory Council of Singapore’s Economic Development Board. Mr.Mahindra, is amongst the most prominent representative of the Indian industry’s modernand globally competitive face.Over the years, Mr. Anand Mahindra has received many honors and accolades. A few ofwhich are: ‘Knight of the Order of Merit’ by the President of the French Republic, andis the First Indian recipient of the Harvard Medal 2014 by the Harvard AlumniAssociation. Fortune Magazine listed him amongst ‘World’s 50 Greatest Leaders’ in2014, and had named him as one of the top 25 most powerful business people in Asiafor the year 2011. Forbes (India) noted him as their ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ (2013).He has been knighted as ‘Grand Officer of the Order of the Star of Italy,’- a civilianaward of State, conferred by the President of Italy for achieving extraordinary resultsin the promotion of bilateral relations between Italy and India.Mr. Mahindra is a firm believer in the power of education. He initiated the Nanhi Kaliprogramme to provide free education to economically underprivileged girls in thecountry. There are over 70,000 Nanhi Kalis across the country today. He is a trustee ofthe K.C. Mahindra Education Trust, which provides scholarships to students. Mr.Mahindra is co-founder of Naandi Danone- largest safe drinking water provider to ruralareas of the country. He is also a Life Trustee on the Board of Naandi Foundation, aleader in providing meals to 1.3 million children daily and academic support in over1800 government schools. He is a strong votary of arts and culture and has launchedthe Mahindra Sanatkada Festival, which celebrates the art, culture, and history ofLucknow. He has also co-founded the Pro Kabaddi League in 2014 to popularize theancient and popular Indian game of Kabaddi.6
