It is strongenough to burn skin, eat holes in clothing, and causeblindness if splashed into eyes.Avoid the hazard by:1.2.3.4.5.Filling batteries in a well-ventilated area.Wearing eye protection and rubber gloves.Avoiding breathing fumes when electrolyte is added.Avoiding spilling or dripping electrolyte.Use proper jump start procedure.\If you spill acid on yourself:1. Flush your skin with water.2. Apply baking soda or lime to help neutralize the acid.3. Flush your eyes with water for 15-30 minutes. SafetyAvoid High-Pressure FluidsEscaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the skincausing serious injury.Avoid the hazard by relieving pressure beforedisconnecting hydraulic or other lines. Tighten allconnections before applying pressure.Search for leaks with a piece of cardboard. Protect handsand body from high pressure fluids.iiixIf an accident occurs, see a doctor immediately. Any fluidinjected into the skin must be surgically removed within afew hours or gangrene may result. Doctors unfamiliar withthis type of injury should reference a knowledgeablemedical source. However, it isrecommended that the oil level be checked weekly, atthe same time checking for oil leaks. Because thelubrication system is the hear of the unit, it isespecially important that the oil be kept clean.1. When servicing the unit for the first time aftervehicle installation and /or after repair, the unit is tobe filled to the level check plug. Approximatelythree quarts (2.84 1) will be required.IMPORTANT: Do not overfill. To do so will result inoverheating and will shorten the lifeof the transmission.1. It is recommended that the oil be changed after thefirst 500 hours of service.2. Thereafter, and under normal operating conditions,it is recommended that the oil be changed afterevery six months of operation. The oil should bechanged whenever the oil shows traces of dirt oreffects of high temperature, evidenced bydiscoloration or strong odor.3. When changing the oil, the dirty oil should bedrained while the unit is warm and examined forcontamination.4. Clean magnetic drain plug before replacing.5. Refill using clean oil from clean containers.2. Use only lubricants that conform to MIL-L-2105C orAPl-GL-5 specifications.
