Chapter 1. Meet your computerThinkPad T14 Gen 1 might be shipped with different microprocessors, namely Intel and Advanced MicroDevices (AMD). Hereby Intel models and AMD models are used to distinguish computer models with differentmicroprocessors.Front1. Infrared LED*Emit infrared (IR) light. The IR light-emitting diode (LED) is on when you log in toyour computer with face authentication.Note: Do not block the LED. Otherwise, the IR function might not work.Log in to your computer with face authentication. See “Use face authentication(for selected models)” on page 47.2. Camera with IR function*Take pictures or record videos by clicking Camera from the Start menu. Theindicator next to the camera is on when the camera is in use.If you use other apps that support photographing, video chatting, and videoconference, the camera starts automatically when you enable the camerarequired feature from the app.3. 5. USB 3.2 connector Gen 1Connect a USB-compatible device, such as a USB keyboard, USB mouse, USBstorage device, or USB printer.For Intel models, the HDMI connector supports the HDMI 1.4 standard. Connectto a compatible digital audio device or video monitor, such as an HDTV.6. HDMI connectorFor AMD models, the HDMI connector supports the HDMI 2.0 standard by default.If you connect an external display to your computer through the HDMI connectorwith an HDMI 1.4 cable, the external display might not work. In this case, do oneof the following: Use a qualified HDMI 2.0 cable instead of an HDMI 1.4 cable. Change the HDMI standard of the HDMI connector from 2.0 to 1.4. To changethe HDMI standard, enter the UEFI BIOS menu (see “Enter the UEFI BIOSmenu” on page 49), and then configure HDMI Mode Select in the Configmenu. Connect headphones with a 3.5-mm (0.14-inch) and 4-pole plug to listen to thesound from the computer.7.
