Creating a South S82-V GPS GSM Network Rover ProfileIntroductionThis guide describes how to create a GPS GSM network roverprofile for your South S82V GNSS receiver.Although this guide describes using a South S82V GPS receiver, theprocedure in this guide can also be followed for connecting to otherSouth receivers such as the S82-T and the S86-T.Important Note: You only need to create a particular profile once.After that South FieldGenius will preserve and use this alreadycreated profile. You are also welcome to create more profiles suchas for a UHF radio GPS profile, but in this guide we explain how tocreate a GSM Network GPS profile.CurrentVersionThis guide was written using South FieldGenius Version 6.0.1installed on a Getac PS236 with Windows Mobile 6.1 installed. Ifyou are using a different version, your screens may look differentlythan what is displayed in this guide.Before you beginHave your South Receiver, data collector with South FieldGeniusinstalled, and a SIM card close by. You will have to remove the batterydoor to access the SIM card slot.Insert your SIM card into your S82-V, power on the receiver and yourdata collector. Then continue to the following page. We may have set up ourdisplay differently to yours. Tap on thebutton.From within the context menu: Tap on the South FieldGeniusmenu selection.Note: If you do not see SouthFieldGenius in your menu then youmust use File Explorer to go toPrograms and find the SouthFieldGenius icon and tap on it. Press the Apply Key buttonwhen finished.Important Notes: South FieldGeniuswill remember your key, therefore, youwill only have to enter your key once.Once a correct key is entered, you willnot see this screen again.This takes us to the Project Managerscreen after we accept the tip of the day.3License Keys are provided by theinternet registration portal or yourdealer.Please contact your dealer forinformation on License Keys andhow to register your new software.In the Project Manager screen:Since this is a new installation, we onlysee the sample project that comesincluded with South FieldGenius. In this example, we arecalling the project “Friday Job”.You should enter a moreappropriate name. The template library thatyou select will be copied into theproject's folder with a name ofyourprojectname automap.csv, and anychanges that you make to the AutomapLibrary will affect only the projectlibrary, not the template library.Use the Feature List field to select afeature list that you want to use with theproject, for collecting GIS pointattributes.The Raw Data File field indicates thename of the raw file that is going to berecorded. You can select a different oneby pressing the button and eithercreating a new raw file or choosing anexisting one to open.The Modify Project Informationbutton will take you directly to theProject Information screen. There youcan enter notes about the project. Leave these fields as they are. This willmake whatever we select here thefuture default unit setting. In thisexample, we will call itSouth S82-VNetwork Rover.Instrument profiles are used to saveyour particular instrument’s settingsso that you don’t have to rememberthem or have to set them each timeyou create a new project or select aninstrument to use. Ensure that the Model fieldhas S82-V selected. Ensure that the Port field isset to Bluetooth. Press the Bluetooth Searchbutton.Note: Although we are usingBluetooth to communicate betweenour data collector and receiver, youcould also use a serial cable.Typically COM1 is the port toselect when using a cable. But inthis example, we will useBluetooth. If you do notsee your GPS receiver, press theRefresh List button and anothersearch will be performed. Tap on your GPS receiver’sbutton. Press the OK button whendone.Note: Your receiver may not have aBluetooth PIN. You may want toleave this field blank and press theOK button. If you connect then youknow a PIN was not required.This returns us to the Model andCommunication screen.20In the Model and Communicationscreen:We see the correct settings for ourreceiver. If the data provider does not use NTRIP, then selectNetwork.Network vs.NTRIPStep22ActionDisplayIn the Mobile Settings screen: Enter your PIN code (ifrequired by ISP). Enter your Internet provider’sAccess Point Name in theInternet APN field. In thisexample it is calledinternet.com. Enter your Internet Usernameand Password in theirrespective fields. Use the Source Type field toselect your data source type. Inthis example we will be usingan NTRIP connetion. Enter your IP address, TCP/IPport, user name, and passwordin the appropriate fields. Set the Station ID field toAny. Press the Connect button.Once South FieldGenius hasconnected with your Network GPSdata service, you will be taken to theNTRIP Caster Options screen.24In the NTRIP Caster Options screen:Since this is the first time we haveconnected to this service, we areonly presented with a RequestSourcetable button. If we had donethis before then the last mount pointthat we had selected would also beavailable in this list. Your providerprobably offers different services. Select the mount point youwish to use by tapping on it.In this example we areselecting the RTCM 3.0 RTKmountpoint. Press the Select button.You are then taken to the NTRIPSourcetable acknowlegement screen. You only have to create this profile once.
