The house, believed to be the work ofThomas Archer, was re-built in the early 1770s and replacedThe Old Manor House that was damaged in the Civil War.The southern elevation is particularly fine, ornamentedwith classical pilasters, broken pediment and ornamentalembellishments with two fine magnolia bushes and a wideflagstone terrace.Constructed of Horton stone under a slate roof, thehouse comprises five main reception rooms and fourteenbedrooms. The hall is stone flagged with two inner pillarsleading off to the main reception rooms. The house isextremely well laid out with a range of rooms that are idealfor entertaining, including the drawing room and diningroom. There are many original features with fine openfireplaces, fine plasterwork, wooden floors and woodenpanelling in the drawing room.The Manor has recently undergone completerefurbishment, the following list details of the work carriedout: The entire house was re-plumbed and re-wired with awood pellet boiler installed.
