As we move into the 21st century, environmental waste codes are becoming more and morestrict. Surcharges and fines are being mandated to companies that are unable to operate within acceptable guidelines.Chemicals used to treat waste water often create by-products which in themselves cause additional code violations. MiT-M Corporation has solved this problem by engineering a Bio-System that utilizes microbes, not chemicals, to literallyfeed off of the waste in the water allowing the final output to be cleansed of any hazardous by-products. We at Mi-T-Mrealize the need to protect and respect our environment and therefore, our Bio-Systems operate under specific microbeguidelines, utilizing microbes that (1) is natural, not genetically formulated and (2) will not cause disease.Mi-T-M has been involved in water products for over twenty-eight years. Our commitment to quality is passed on to ourcustomers, our commitment to the environment is passed on to our children.4Mi-T-M BIO-20D-1M10 Operator's Manual

IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNINGSWARNING: When using this product, basic precautions should always be observed, including the following:READ ALL SAFETY WARNINGS BEFORE USING BIOLOGICAL DISCHARGE SYSTEMHAZARDPOTENTIAL CONSEQUENCEPREVENTIONRISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCKOR ELECTROCUTIONSerious injury or death could occurif the Biological Discharge Systemis not properly grounded. YourBiological Discharge System ispowered by electricity and maycause electric shock or electrocutionif not installed properly.Installation of this unit, including all electricalconnections, must comply with all local, stateand national codes. This product must be grounded. Connect to aGFCI circuit breaker when available. If the unitshould malfunction or breakdown, groundingprovides a path of least resistance for electriccurrent to reduce the risk of electric shock. Donot ground to a gas supply line.Improper connection of the equipmentgrounding conductor can result in a risk ofelectrocution. Check with a qualified electricianor service personnel if you are in doubt as towhether the system is properly grounded.Always be certain the unit is receiving propervoltage ( /- 5% of the voltage listed on thenameplate). Before installing electricalconnections, be certain the power switchesare in the "OFF" position.Keep all connections dry and off the ground.Do not touch pump, pump motor, dischargepiping or water when the unit is connected tothe power supply; regardless of whether theunit is operating correctly or experiencing anoperation failure.Electrical shock may occur if DO NOT allow metal components of theBiological Discharge System is not Biological Discharge System to come in contactwith live electrical components.operated properly.Never operate the Biological DischargeSystem with safety guards/covers removedor damaged. Ensure all electrical covers aresecurely in place when unit is operating.Serious injury or death may occur if Any electrical wiring or repairs performed on thiselectrical repairs are attempted by Biological Discharge System should be doneby Authorized Service Personnel in accordanceunqualified persons.with National and Local electrical codes. Before opening any electrical enclosure, alwaysshut off the Biological Discharge System anddrain the water. Disconnect the BiologicalDischarge System from the power source. Ifthe power disconnect is not in sight, lock it inthe open position and tag it to prevent powerusage. (Never assume the Biological DischargeSystem is safe to work on just because it is notoperating, it could restart at any time! Alwaysdisconnect from the power source.) Allow theBiological Discharge System components tocool down.Mi-T-M BIO-20D-1M10 Operator's Manual5

IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNINGSREAD ALL SAFETY WARNINGS BEFORE USING BIOLOGICAL DISCHARGE SYSTEMHAZARDPOTENTIAL CONSEQUENCERISK OF EXPLOSION OR FIRE Serious injury or death could occurfrom an explosion or fire causedby a system electric spark.RISK OF BURSTINGSerious injury or death could occurfrom bursting caused by excessivepressure in the system.PREVENTIONThis unit must be placed in an area that iswell ventilated, free of flammable vapors, combustible dust, gases or other combustiblematerials.Do not mistreat the pressure gauges on thesystem. Pressure gauges will malfunctionif they are subjected to excessive pressure, vibration, pulsation or temperature or if theyare placed in an environment which causescorrosion of parts. Incorrect readings on apressure gauge could mislead the operator andplace him in a dangerous working condition.Do not use a booster pump or any type ofadditional pumping system. Pressurizing thesuction of the pump may cause the pump bodyto explode.Do not use this Biological Discharge Systemto pump flammable material! An explosioncould occur from a gas vapor buildup insidethe system.RISK OF BURNSSerious injury may occur ifattempting to start the BiologicalDischarge System when the pumpis frozen. In freezing temperatures, the unit mustalways be warm enough to ensure there is noice formation in the pump. Do not start theBiological Discharge System if it has been ina freezing environment without first allowingthe pump to thaw.Serious injury may occur fromtouching the electrical motor. This area can remain hot forsome time after the BiologicalDischarge System is shutdown.Never allow any part of your body to contactthe electrical motor until cooled.6Mi-T-M BIO-20D-1M10 Operator's Manual

IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNINGSREAD ALL SAFETY WARNINGS BEFORE USING BIOLOGICAL DISCHARGE SYSTEMHAZARDRISK FROM MOVING PARTSRISK OF BODILY INJURYPOTENTIAL CONSEQUENCESerious injury may occur to theoperator from moving parts on theBiological Discharge System.Injury may occur from theBiological Discharge System.PREVENTIONDo not operate the unit without allprotective covers in place.Follow the maintenance instructionsspecified in the manual.DO NOT DRINK THE WATER IN THEBIOLOGICAL DISCHARGE SYSTEM!! Thisis non-potable water and is not suitable forconsumption.DO NOT allow children to operate this unit.DO NOT overreach or stand on unstablesupport.Wet surfaces can be slippery, wear protectivefoot gear and keep good footing and balanceat all times.Know how to stop the Biological DischargeSystem. Be thoroughly familiar with controls. Before servicing components, ALWAYS shutoff the Biological Discharge System.Consult Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)for safe handling of system, especiallyoxidizers and acids.!SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS!Mi-T-M BIO-20D-1M10 Operator's Manual7

FLOW DIAGRAM-BIO-20D-1M10-100809-PJHBIOLOGICAL DISCHARGE SYSTEM FLOW CHARTThe Sump Pump (1) draws water from the Sump Pit (2) and brings it to the Inlet (6) of the Biological Discharge System.the Inlet flow Control Valve (5) can be used to control the flow of water into the unit. The Biological Discharge Tank(7) is made up of several sections that are separated by weirs. The wastewater enters the top of the First Chamber (8)and moves down through the Biological Media (9). the media packs provide a surface for the microbes to live on. Aswater passes through the Biological Media (9), the microbes feed off of the organic compounds in the water, producingby-products of carbon dioxide and water. From the First Chamber (8), the wastewater moves under the weir, into the Second Chamber (10), rising up throughthe Biological Media (9) and over the weir. From there the water travels over another weir to the Outlet (11), then flowsout through the Discharge Outlet (12).Microbes also need air to live; an Aerator Pump (3) pumps water through a venturi Air Injector (4) to pull air into thewater. From there the air bubbles move up through the Biological Media (9). Without the air in the Biological RecyclingSystem, the microbes will not be able to process waste water effectively.8Mi-T-M BIO-20D-1M10 Operator's Manual
