COURSE DESCRIPTIONSECPM 221 CONTENT & PEDAGOGY IN THE MOTHER TONGUE – 3 units. Thiscourse includes both the content and the pedagogy of the mother tongue. This subject mattercontent includes the structure of the mother tongue as a language, literature in the mother tongue,methods and techniques of teaching the language, development of instructional materials andassessment.EFIL 211 PAGTUTURO NG FILIPINO SA ELEMENTARYA I- ESTRUKTURA ATGAMIT NG WIKANG FILIPINO – 3 units. Pagsanay ng paggamit ng estruktura at gamit ngWikang Filipino sa pagtuturo sa elementarya. Sumasaklaw sa deskriptibong pag-aaral ngWikang Filipino sa lebel ng polohiya, morpolohiya, semantikas at sintaks.EFIL 321 PAGTUTURO NG FILIPINO SA ELEMENTARYA II- PANITIKAN NGPILIPINAS – 3 units. Paggamit ng mga iba’t ibang anyo ng literatura ng Pilipinas galing sasarili at iba’t ibang rehiyon sa pagtuturo, produksyon at (assessment) na angkop sa elementarya.ESCI 211 TEACHING SCIENCE IN THE PRIMARY GRADES (BIOLOGY &CHEMISTRY) – 3 units. The course includes understanding of spiraling basic science conceptsand application of science inquiry in Chemistry and Biology and the use of teaching strategies inelementary science, development of instructional materials and assessment. Content topics inChemistry include Properties and Structure of Matter and Changes that matter Undergo. InBiology content topics includes Parts and Functions of Animals and Plants, Heredity:Inheritance and Variation, Biodiversity and Evolution and Ecosystems.ESCI 221 TEACHING SCIENCE IN THE INTERMEDIATE GRADES (PHYSICS,EARTH & SPACE SCIENCE) – 3 units. This course includes understanding of spiraling basicscience concepts and application of science inquiry in Physics and Earth and Space, strategies inteaching elementary science, development of instructional materials and assessment. Contenttopics in Physics include Force and Motion, and Energy while Earth and Space Science includeGeology, meteorology, and Astronomy.TSSC 211 TEACHING SOCIAL STUDIES IN PRIMARY GRADES- PHILIPPINEHISTORY & GOVERNMENT – 3 units. This course emphasizes the contents of PhilippineHistory and Government that are necessary in teaching at the elementary level. Further,appropriate teaching strategies and assessment methods shall be included to prepare students tobecome elementary grades teachers.TSSC 221 TEACHING SOCIAL STUDIES IN INTERMEDIATE GRADES(CULTURE & BASIC GEOGRAPHY) – 3 units. The curse aims to equip the students in theBEED program a strong background in local history and culture. This background serves as anavenue for further inquiry of the available resources in the community for the localization andcontextualization of teaching of elementary subjects. Areas to be studied include natural heritageof the locality, tangible and intangible culture that are of great significance to the socio-economicand political activities of the people in the place. In the end they are expected to come up withthe profiling of available cultural resources in the community.8

MATH 211 TEACHING MATH IN THE PRIMARY GRADES – 3 units. This courseequips prospective teachers with pedagogical content knowledge for the teaching of basiccontents in mathematics in the primary level. Understanding of key concepts and skills of wholenumbers up to 10,000, fractions, measurement, simple geometric figures, pre-algebra conceptsand data representation and analysis are applied using appropriate technology. Teachingstrategies include problem solving, critical thinking, differentiated instruction, inquiry-basedlearning with the use of manipulatives based on cultural context will be emphasized.MATH 221 TEACHING MATH IN THE INTERMEDIATE GRADES – 3 units. Aspreparation for teaching in the intermediate grades, this course emphasizes the integration oftechnological pedagogical content knowledge that includes topics on rational numbers,measurement, geometric figures, pre-algebra concepts, application of simple probability and dataanalysis. This course is capped with microteaching that utilizes appropriate teaching strategiesfor the development of critical and problem solving, reasoning, communicating, makingcorrections, representations and decisions in real life situations.ETLE 221 EDUKASYON PANTAHANAN AT PANGKABUHAYAN 1 – 3 units. Thiscourse shall include pedagogical content, knowledge and skills in technology and livelihoodeducation necessary in teaching and learning in the elementary level. Selected topics in homeeconomics, industrial arts, technology and livelihood education shall form a major part of thecourse. Experiential learning approach shall be the focus of this course.ETLE 321 EDUKASYON PANTAHANAN AT PANGKABUHAYAN W/ENTREPRENEURSHIP – 3 units. This course shall include pedagogical content, knowledgeand skills in technology and livelihood education necessary in teaching and learning in theelementary level. Selected topics in agriculture arts, fisheries arts and livelihood education andentrepreneurship shall form a major part of the course. Experiential learning approach shall bethe focus of the course.TMEE 311 TEACHING MUSIC IN THE ELEMENTARY GRADES – 3 units. Thiscourse deals with the educational foundations of Music as it apply to teaching and learning in theelementary grades. Various teaching strategies and assessment appropriate for each area shall begiven emphases in the course.ARTS 311 TEACHING ARTS IN THE ELEMENTARY GRADES – 3 units. This coursedeals with the educational foundations of Arts as these apply to teaching and learning in theelementary grades. Various teaching strategies and assessment appropriate for each area shall begiven emphases in the course.EPEH 321 TEACHING PE & HEALTH IN THE ELEMENTARY GRADES – 3 units.This course deals with the educational foundations of Physical Education as these apply toteaching and learning in the elementary grades. Anchored on the essential component of personhood that dealswith intra/interpersonal relationships which allow harmony with oneself, with others and theenvironment, this course will highlight the fundamental rules of good manners and appropriateconduct or behavior of each learner which are necessary of the formation of character thatembraces the core values of Maka-Dios, Maka-Tao-, Maka-Bansa and Maka-Kalikasan.ETTL 311 TECHNOLOGY FOR TEACHING & LEARNING IN THEELEMENTARY GRADES – 3 units. This course is designed for prospective teachers todevelop and use digital and non-digital teaching-learning resources using technology toolsappropriate n various subject areas in the elementary level. Further, the course will provideopportunities for students to use technology tools to develop project-based collaborativeactivities and share resources among communities or practice.ERES 311/CEEC 313 RESEARCH TEACHING – 3 units. This is a practicum researchcourse that will provide prospective elementary teachers an avenue to conduct applied or actionresearch that will provide empirical bases to improve teaching and learning. This course maybetaken together simultaneously with Field Study 1 and Field Study 2.TEACHING MULTI-GRADE CLASSES (ELECTIVE COURSE) – 3 units. This is a coursein implementation of multi-grade course that deals with the theories, principles and concepts ofmulti-grade learners and classes. It includes pedagogical approaches and contextualized learningenvironments for the different grade and age levels are grouped for instructions in differentschool situations.10
