Week 1Mary, a Girl Who Said YesAdult Project: Fiat EmbroideryDespite everything, I continue to struggle tosubmit my will to the will of God. My heart isnot as open as Mary’s--not even close. EverydayI need to say “yes” to God again. Everyday Ineed to learn from the Fiat of Our Lady. For this project, spend time relecting on thewords of Mary, “May it be done to me accordingto your word.” Allow these words to be a dailyprayer as you accept each day and whatever itmay bring. Please ind the pattern for the lettering on thefollowing page.Steps:1. Using a pencil or water soluable markertrace the lettering onto white canvas fabric.Make sure to note where the thicker lines areas you trace. {tip: bring the words up on yourcomputer screen and resize as you desire. hen, tape your fabric directly to your computerscreen and trace. If you can’t quite see thewords, turn of the lights in the room you are in.Stretch the fabric in a wooden embroidery hoopof the right size. I used an 8” hoop.3. Trace the smaller capital letters with 1 blackthread using back stitch (tutorial here).4. Add some simple felt lowers for adornment. For the wrapped red roses--which are easy tomake--use this tutorial. he 5 pedal purplelowers are a little bit more involved --use thistutorial.5. To complete the hoop, use hot glue to gluethe lowers in place, and don’t worry if the2. Grab your black thread and using 3 threads lowers are slightly over the edge of the hoop.at a time, trace the curvy letters using the split Finally, trim of the excess fabric around thestitch (tutorial here). For the places where the edge of the hoop. Seal in place by adding hotlines of the letters are thicker, stitch in 2 lines of glue all around the back side of the hoop.split stiches next to each other.

Week 1Mary, a Girl Who Said YesChild Project: Hail Mary ColoringIn responce to Mary’s “yes”, the angelproclaimed the beautiful words of what hasbecome our Hail Mary, words we have the honorof repeating each time we say this prayer.Like many of us, my children learned theHail Mary at a very young age, mostly as theylistened to us say the prayer each evening. Sothey know it--but do they really KNOW IT?Have they slowed down to think about thewords, what they meant then as Mary stoodbefore the angel and what they continue tomean for us now?In an efort to pull my own children into theprayer more deeply I created this Hail MaryPrintable that can be colored. I put a little bit ofextra time into it in hopes that older kids willmake theirs extra beautiful and perhaps displaythem somewhere in the home.Because really, what is more beautiful than thewords of the Hail Mary? You can access the PDF of this coloring sheet byclicking HERE.Happy coloring!

Week 2Mary, Our MotherAdult Project: Jesus and MaryFelt Wall ArtIsn’t it humbling to realize that we have the exactsame occupation as Mary, the Mother of God?Our days are consumed with nearly identicaltasks--feeding a family, caring for children, creating a home and building a strong andfaitful family.Granted we might have a few more modernconvenences.and a slightly more sinnful naturethan Mary. But still, we have a great model forliving, in every posible way, in Our Lady. What I love most about this week’s project, Maryand Jesus Felt Wall Art, is that Mary seems to begazing directly and lovingly into the eyes of her Once you are done with this project you canchild, Jesus. Isn’t it sweet? And in return He is hang it on the wall (as I did) or sew it onto thefront of a pillow. Lots of options.reaching up to stroke his mother’s face. For the full pattern of this project clickAny mother with young children can easilyrecall a sweet moment as she held a little one in HERE to download the PDF. he completeher arms--and I just love relecting on the reality instructions can be downloaded HERE.of those moments between Jesus and Mary. For this project I have drawn up a completetemplate (already to-scale) and written out theinstructions in detail. his project is a little timeconsuming but I assure you that anyone withany level of crating experience can accomplishthis crat.

Week 2Mary, Our MotherChild Project:Mary Paper Doll to Dress UpI made an extra fun project for the kids thisweek: a paper dool of Mary with extra piecesthat allow children to “dress her up”.I made this paper doll to encourage mychildren to think of all the diferent rolls ofOur Lady. She is the mother of Jesus, Queenof Heaven, she has an Immaculate Heart andshe continues to appear to people on Earthtoday. She is incredible!he Mary paper doll comes with a little babyJesus in her arms, hands folded in prayer andwrapped in the rosary, an Immaculate Heartand a crown. To put the doll together simply print andthen color everything. Next, cut out all of thepieces as shown above. Take the paper dolland fold back the base, taping the long strip ofpaper to the back of the doll. hen, tape on theadd-ons as you desire to dress her up!he PDF for this project can be found HERE.

Take the tissue paperand pin it slightly below the top 1/2 of the felt, leaving room for a top lap. Time to stitch!Using 2 threads at a time, back stitch aroundthe outline. Once you have backstitchedaround the entire outline, gently pull away thetissue paper. To inish your case, fold up slightly less thanthe bottom 1/2 and then blanket stitch (tutorialHERE) around the entire outside. his willcreate a pocket for your rosary. Finally, sewa button on the back side, top of the pocket.hen, cut a hole for the button in the top lap. Now, grab your rosary and make time to prayevery day!

Week 3Mary, Queen of SorrowsChild Project:he Tears of MaryTalking about the sadnesses of this world withchildren is important, but hard. I would like mychildren to live in world where all is good andjust, but that simply isn’t the case. While relecting on Mary, Queen of Sorrows Iwanted to create a creative and serious way tointroduce the sad things in this world that weneed to pray for and work to change.his project, the Tears of Mary, is a simpleproject that kids can complete with the helpof mom. Once it is done, consider hanging itsomewhere where you and the children willremember to pray for the things you listed.he template for this project can be downloadedHERE. Once it is printed, cut out the picture ofMary cradling the broken body of Jesus. Place iton a larger piece of colored paper.Next, have the children color the tear dropshapes. Since my children are small I had themuse inger paint. Cut out the tears and hangthem from the image of Mary with yarn.the kids and explain it. I also had my kids, who are quite young, contribute some wordsto write down and they came up with Lying,Poverty and Stealing. Now it is time to get serious. Talk with theOnce we were done we we hung our “Tears ofchildren about the sadness of this world andMary” in the kids’ room where we say nightwrite one down on each tear drop. Instructions for Creating Mary and Jesus Felt Wall Artwww.dosmalllthingswithlove.comCreating your Mary and Jesus Felt Wall Art is fairly simple after you havedownloaded and printed out the PDF pattern onto ordinary computerpaper.Using the colored image in the top left corner ofthe pattern as a guide, cut out one of each shapein the color indicated. To get a precise cut I firstcut out my pattern piece and then tape thatpiece directly to the felt I am cutting with cleartape. I used a wool blend felt from BenzieDesign . I love this felt and use if for all of myfelt projects.Once you have all of the pieces cut out, lay themout on a larger piece of felt (I used a light yellowpiece of felt for my background). Then, usingTacky Glue, glue down the pieces (just a littleglue in the center of each piece). The aim here is just to keep the felt piecesin place as you stitch–you don’t want to be stitching through dried glue. After all of the pieces are glued down, trim the large piece of felt you areusing as a base. After this, pull out your thread stash and stitch with a running stitcharound the edges of each piece. As a final step, I cut a larger piece ofblack felt and stitched the entirepiece onto that, once again with arunning stitch. Then, trim the blackfelt, leaving a few inches extra at thetop. Next, fold the black felt overand use hot glue to glue it in place, creating a folded opening at the top. Then slide a wooden dowel into thatfold and secured a long piece of

ribbon to each side, creating a hanger.

Mary, Queen of SorrowsMary stood by the foot of the cross and held Jesus’s broken body in her arms after he died. No doubt, her heat was filled with sorrow. But Mary, our mother, teaches us that is okay to be sad, to cry. Through allof her pain, however, there is an even greater lesson. In our despair and grief we need to continueto trust our Lord and God. Trust that there is a bigger plan, His Plan. Our world is filled with sorrow. Spend time thinking about the saddness of our world. Think of events, policies or even the details of your own family and friends.Write one great saddness on each teardrop. Then, cut out the image our Our Lady and the teardrops. Attach the teardrops to the bottom of the imageof Our Lady. When done, hang this up and pray through each of the sorrows you wrote on the teardrops.Pray that God’s will be done, even in the midst of all this sorrow.n
