About our studio:In 1979, Roswell nativeNancy Tolbert Yilmaz founded the Tolbert Yilmaz Schoolof Dance. Over the years, the school has seen tremendousgrowth and moved to its present location to house anopen school program as well as the Roswell DanceTheatre, a nonprofit performing company.The programs at the Tolbert Yilmaz School of Dance aredesigned to meet the needs of any dancer, ranging frompreschool to advanced professional levels. The emphasisis on dance as a rewarding, fulfilling experience withinitself. High quality dance training benefits all studentsin the area of physical development, posture, poise, andgrace. The tangible benefits of dance include the development of confidence, pride and discipline. Our training canprepare any student who desires to pursue a career in theprofessional dance world.The Tolbert Yilmaz School of Dance offers training invarious techniques of dance with age appropriate classes.Each year of training provides consistent progress fromthe early basics to advanced techniques. All students areafforded performing opportunities and, depending on theirtalents, the eventual option of membership in the RoswellDance Theatre. ROSWELL DANCE THEATRERoswell Dance Theatre, a nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation,was founded in 1985 by Nancy Tolbert Yilmaz and MaryLynn Taylor. It was created as the resident performingcompany of the Tolbert Yilmaz School of Dance.Roswell Dance Theatre company dancers have performedfor audiences throughout the world. Public performancesinclude the annual productions of The Nutcracker, as wellas the Hugs From Young Choreographers Concert, theModern Company’s Straight from the Heart performance inthe Spring and the PreProfessional Company’s Spring Concert. We are proud to present our annual Nutcracker andSpring Concert productions at the Byers Theater in SandySprings.The Roswell Dance Theatre’s production of The Nutcrackeris the largest and longest running production in thenorth Atlanta area, with a cast of over 350 performers.All currently enrolled open school students are invited toaudition for the annual RDT production. 2021 Nutcracker Open Audition will be Sept 11, 2021 2021 Nutcracker Performances will be Nov 26-Dec 5Under the direction of Tracey Yanckello Bayly, the RoswellDance Theatre PreProfessional Company, presents aSpring Concert each year. Productions in the past haveincluded classical favorites such as Swan Lake, Giselle,Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Coppelia, as well asoriginal arrangements including Alice in Wonderland,Mary Poppins, Frozen, and Anastasia.Aside from the regular season, the Roswell Dance Theatreperforms regularly for various charitable organizations,schools, senior citizens and underprivileged children aspart of its extensive outreach program. RDT is an HonorCompany member of Regional Dance America-Southeast.13

CLASS DESCRIPTIONSACROBATICS: A dancer’s form of gymnastic that incorporates tumbling, balance and contortion with dance. Acrobatics includes only floor exercises; no equipment.AERIAL SILKS: This type of performance involves completing aerial acrobatics while hanging from a specialfabric.BALLET: The oldest and most noble form of dance. Arigorous technique that is the foundation for most other dance forms. For discipline of mind and body, ballethas no equal. Ballet develops individual body awareness,strength, flexibility and an appreciation of the art of ballet.BALLET/TAP COMBINATION: A full hour class includingboth ballet and tap techniques.CONTEMPORARY: Incorporating elements from manystyles of dance, this form is closely related to moderndance, ballet and other classical concert dance styles.HIP & FLIP: A new class offering providing a combinationof both hip-hop and acrobatics.HIP-HOP: This form of dance refers to street dance stylesprimarily performed to hip-hop music. It includes a widerange of style primarily breaking, locking, and popping,which were created in the 1970s.JAZZ: An exciting, ever evolving dance form. American atits roots, it is less restrictive than ballet. A ballet foundation is recommended.KINDERDANCE: A pre-ballet & tap instruction program including basic steps, rhythmic games, limbering exercisesand coordination movements.20

MODERN: This dance form was developed in the early20th century.
