AUTISM DIAGNOSTIC OBSERVATION SCHEDULE (ADOS-II) TRAININGCourse DescriptionWorkshop 1 – Introduction to the ADOS-2 (2 days) The introduction to the ADOS-2 workshop is intended for clinicians interested in using the ADOS-2. Itprovides an introduction to the ADOS-2 as an assessment tool and is a first step on the process forestablishing reliability. It uses a mixture of large group lecture, demonstration and scoring as well asdiscussion of coding practices. Practice administration of the ADOS-2 with children is NOT included in this workshop. Pre-requisites: No prior training in ADOSWorkshop 2 – ADOS-2 Advanced Training (2.5 days) If you want to use the ADOS-2 for research purposes, you must establish reliability on the measure. Thismeans your ADOS-2 codes being in 80% agreement with those of another reliable ADOS-2 administrator. The process involves first attending the Introduction to the ADOS-2 workshop and then attending anADOS-2 Advanced Training workshop. The additional training is of 2 ½ days duration and involves workingin small groups on administering and scoring the ADOS-2, discussion about specific administration ancoding issues and more intensive instruction on the use of the measure, particularly in research. Practiceadministration of the ADOS-2 with children is also included in this workshop. Pre-requisites: Completed training in ADOS or ADOS-2 (Mods 1-4). Proof of completion required.Workshop 3 – Introduction to ADOS-2 & Advanced Training (4.5 days) A 4 ½ days combination of Workshop 1 & Workshop 2. Pre-requisites: No prior training in ADOS.Workshop 4 – ADOS-2 – Introduction to the Toddler Module (1 day) This workshop provides an update on the ADOS-2 for those professionals who have previously completedtraining in the ADOS. It provides an update in administration and coding, and provides instruction in thenew diagnostic algorithms in the ADOS-2. Participants will be provided with an overview of change fromthe ADOS to ADOS-2 and have opportunities for practice in scoring modules. Instructional methods willinclude lectures, videos, demonstrations of administration and scoring and discussions. Pre-requisites: Completed training in ADOS or ADOS-2 (Mods 1-4). Proof of completion required.Workshop 5 – ADOS-2 Update (What’s new in the ADOS-2) (1 day) This is an introductory clinical workshop specific to the Toddler Module with instructional methods thatinclude lectures, videos demonstrations of administration and scoring, and discussions. This workshop isdesigned for researchers and clinician with prior background in autism spectrum disorders and formaltesting such as speech-language pathologists, pediatricians, psychiatrists, psychologists and occupationaltherapists. Pre-requisites: Completed training in ADOS or ADOS-2 (Mods 1-4).
