LIBRARYBOOK PROFILEVisit the Yea High School librarynow to check out this fantasticnew book. If you can’t locate itplease ask the friendly librarystaff for assistance. Likewise, ifthere is a particular book thatyou are interested in and youdon’t know if the library has it,just ask! We are always on thelookout for great new titles/You meet a girl, oh the perfect girl, and then you meet the wrong girland life gets really interesting! The day starts simply for Sebastian and his best mate, Tolly. They areat an open day at uni, and while Seb should be deciding his careerpath, fate steps in. Well, actually, it is not fate, it’s Taylor Swift (aka Helena), the perfect girl. But then herboyfriend shows up and Seb’s perfect rom-com takes a dive – until he’s saved by Frida.Frida is sharp and funny, but she’s the wrong girl. Suddenly, the simple day becomes less simple but definitely more interesting as Tolly, Seb, Frida and, sometimes, Taylor Swift navigate the prospect of life afterhigh school.Stories are told and retold, and as Seb finds himself becoming bewitched by Frida he is wary of her narrative – some things don’t add up.As we know from Michael Bauer’s Don’t Call Me Ishmael and the award-winning and haunting RunningMan, Bauer can traverse the world of humour and heartbreak brilliantly. In The Things That Will Not Stand, one is juxtaposed against the other, and, while we laugh, just a few pages ahead the day darkens as thetruth comes out about what Seb and Frida have both been concealing. Highly recommended for readersaged 12 .YEAR 9 EXHIBITIONThe crumple zone is the front section(bonnet) of modern cars that collapse during a crash to spread out the force over timeand, as a result, improve safety. Here is Daniel and his crumple zone modelfrom his Year 9 Exhibition.SOCIAL SERVICECollection Friday Mornings9:00am - 9:10amPlease bring along your spare change to

Coming out of High School English and Psychology weregreat passions for me. I went into Uni with a desire to continuethese subjects and that has culminated in teaching. Throughout myteaching rounds I have come to love engaging with students and theprocesses of education. This is equally true of my current placementat Yea High School where I have been made to feel welcome, grownas a teacher and person, and had a fantastic time in the classroom.”
