What I Need to KnowIt is necessary to know what multimedia is despite the fact that it is commonplace. Asthe name implies, multimedia is the multiple forms of media integrated together. Furthermore, itheld nearly 93 percent of the country's social media market share as of 2020. With thisfigure of social media users, Filipinos rely on social media app as a primary source ofnews and other platforms.2

What Is ItMultimedia has five major components such as text, graphics, sound, video, andanimation. They are explained in detail below:1. Text- Text is the most common multimedia element. All multimedia productions containsome amount of text. The text can have various types of fonts and sizes. Text is seen asprobably one of the most frequently combined mediums in the colorful world of multimedia.It is usually combined with photographs and video presentations to augment these otherforms of communication and give a detailed multimedia description.2. Graphics- Graphics make the multimedia application attractive. Graphics represent nontext information, such as drawings, photographs, charts, tables, graphs, etc. Graphics areused more often than text to explain a concept and to present background information, etc.The graphic medium can be combined with the text medium. There are two types ofGraphics:o Bitmap images- Bitmap images are real images that can be captured fromdevices such as digital cameras or scanners. Generally, bitmap images are noteditable. Bitmap images require a large amount of memory.o Vector Graphics- Vector graphics are drawn on the computer and onlyrequire a small amount of memory. These graphics are editable.3. Audio- A multimedia application may require the use of speech, music, and sound effects.These are called audio or sound element of multimedia. Audios are sounds that can be addedand combined with all other media types in so many ways. An audio can function as amusical background to images and photographs, and even texts. Audio can either be analogand digital types. Analog audio or sound refers to the original sound signal. Computer storesthe sound in digital form. Therefore, the sound used in the multimedia application is digitalaudio.4. Video- The term video refers to the moving picture, accompanied by a sound like atelevision picture. The video element of multimedia applications gives a lot of informationin a small duration of time. Digital video is useful in the multimedia application for showingreal-life objects. Videos have the highest performance demand on computer memory and thebandwidth if placed on the internet. Digital video files can be stored like any other files onthe computer, and the quality of the video can still be maintained. The digital video files canbe transferred within a computer network. The digital video clips can be edited easily.5. Animation- Animation is the process of making a static image look like it is moving. Theanimation is just a continuous series of still images that are displayed in a sequence. Theplace where images and photographs meet video material is where animation begins. Theanimation can be used effectively to attract attention. Animation also makes a presentationlight and attractive. The animation is very popular in multimedia application. Animation filesare small, compact, and easily transferable, which is one reason why they dominate the worldof the Internet today.4
