Dyneo Synchronous motors combining reluctance and permanent magnetsGeneral informationDIRECTIVE AND STANDARDS RELATING TO MOTOR EFFICIENCYThere have been a number of changesto the standards and new standardscreated in recent years. They mainlyconcern motor efficiency and their scopeincludes measurement methods andmotor classification.Regulations are gradually beingimplemented, both nationally andinternationally, in many countries inorder to promote the use of highefficiency motors (Europe, USA,Canada, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand,Korea, China, Israel, etc.).The new generation of synchronousmotors combining reluctance andpermanent magnets responds tochanges in the standards as well as thelatest demands of system integratorsand users.IEC 60034-30-2 STANDARDThe IEC 60034-30-2 defines efficiencyclasses for rotating electrical machinesnot covered by the IEC 60034-30-1standard.This technical specification refers to theefficiency classification of AC motordesigned for variable voltage /frequency use, i.e. induction motors andsynchronous motors not covered byIEC 60034-30-1 (not designed to bepowered by mains supply).By extension and consistency, NidecLeroy-Somer has chosen to respect thisstandard for PLSHRM motors althoughtheoretically not covered.Sphere of application: Nominal voltage Un from 50 V to1 kV Nominal power Pn from 0.12 kW to1 000 kW Nominal speed Nn from 600 rpm to6000 rpm whatever the number ofmagnetic poles Designed for cooling modes IC410,IC411, IC416, or IC418 according toIEC 60034-6 Capable of continuous operation atits rated operating point (torque /power, speed) with a temperatureincrease in the specified insulationtemperature class Dimensioned for any ambienttemperature in the range –20 C to 60 C;Motors not concernedMotors designed to be powered bymains supply.ErP DIRECTIVE (EnergyRelated Product) 2009/125/EC(21ST OCTOBER 2009)It establishes a framework for settingthe eco-design requirements to beapplied to “energy-using products”.These products are grouped in lots.Motors come under lot 11 of the ecodesign program, as do pumps, fans andcirculating pumps.DECREE IMPLEMENTING OFTHE ErP EUROPEANREGULATION (EnergyRelated Product) EC/640/2009 AMENDEMENT EU/4/2014Motors not concerned:- Motors designed to operate whenfully submerged in liquid- Motors which are fully integrated inanother product (rotor/stator)- Motors with duty other thancontinuous duty- Motors designed to operate in thefollowing conditions: altitude 4000 m ambient air temperature 60 C maximum operating temperature 400 C ambient air temperature -30 C or 0 C for water-cooled motors safety motors conforming to directiveATEX 2014/34/UE brake motors. This is based on standard IEC 6003430-2 and will define the efficiencyclasses. It means that the product conforms to all the relevantdirectives. If the product does not conform to a relevant directive, it cannot be CE rated and cannot therefore bear the CE mark. The UL Recognized Component Mark, which is optional, indicates conformance with Canadian requirements and those of the UnitedStates. UL encourages manufacturers distributing products bearing the UL Recognized Component Mark for both countries to use thiscombined mark. The EAC mark replaces the GOST mark. It is the equivalent of the CE mark for the European Union market. This new mark coversregulations for Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus. All products marketed in these three countries must bear this marking.USDyneo Synchronous motors combining reluctance and permanent magnets - 5729 en - 2020.03 / a

Absolute humidity, calculatedfrom the readings taken on the twothermometers, can be determined usingthe chart on the right. The chart alsoprovides relative humidity figures. To determine the humidity correctly, agood air flow is required for stablereadings, and accurate readings mustbe taken on the thermometers.During the construction of aluminiummotors, the materials of the variouscomponents which are in contact withone another are selected so as tominimize deterioration by galvaniceffect. The voltages in the metalcombinations used (cast iron-steel; castiron-aluminium; steel-aluminium; steeltin) are too low to cause deterioration.10 C10DRAIN HOLES203040Ambient temperature – dry bulb thermometerHoles are provided at the lowest pointsof the enclosure, depending on theoperating position (IM, etc.) to drain offanymoisturethatmayhaveaccumulated inside during cooling ofthe machine. The holes may be sealed with plasticplugs in standard. On request, they canbe sealed with screws, siphon or plasticventilator.Under certain special conditions, it isadvisable to leave the drain holespermanently open (operation inenvironments with high levels ofcondensation). Opening the holesperiodically should be part of the regularmaintenance procedure.DRIP COVERS5060For machines operating outdoors, withthe drive shaft downwards, drip coversare recommended. This is an option and should bespecified on the order if required.Dyneo Synchronous motors combining reluctance and permanent magnets - 5729 en - 2020.03 / a

Dyneo Synchronous motors combining reluctance and permanent magnetsEnvironmentINTERFERENCE SUPPRESSION AND PROTECTION OF PEOPLEAIRBORNE INTERFERENCEEMISSIONFor standard motors, the housing actsas an electromagnetic screening, reducing electromagnetic emissionsmeasured at 0.25 meters from themotor to approximately 5 gauss (5 x10–4 T).However, electromagnetic emissionsmay be noticeably reduced by a specialconstruction of aluminium alloy endshields and a stainless steel shaft.IMMUNITYThe construction of motor housings(especially finned aluminium alloyframes)isolatesexternalelectromagnetic sources to the extentthat any field penetrating the casing andmagnetic circuit will be too weak tointerfere with the operation of the motor.POWER SUPPLYINTERFERENCEThe use of electronic systems forstarting, variable speed control or powersupply can create harmonics on thesupply lines which may interfere withthe operation of machines. Thesephenomena are taken into account indetermining the machine dimensions, which act as quenching chokes in thisrespect. The CISPR 11 standard definespermissible rejection and immunityrates.Three-phase squirrel cage machines donot in themselves produce interferenceof this type. Mains connectionequipment (contactors) may, however, need interference protection.APPLICATION OF DIRECTIVE2014/30/EC CONCERNINGELECTROMAGNETICCOMPATIBILITY (EMC)In the case the motor is supplied by adrive, the motor is only a sub-assemblyof a device which the system buildermust ensure conforms to the essentialrequirements of the EMC directives.APPLICATION OF LOWVOLTAGE DIRECTIVE2014/35/EUAll motors are subject to this directive. The main requirements concern theprotection of people, animals andproperty against risks caused byoperation of the motors (see thecommissioningandmaintenancemanual for precautions to be taken).APPLICATION OFMACHINERY DIRECTIVE2006/42/ECAll motors are designed to be integratedin a device subject to the machinerydirective.PRODUCT MARKINGThe fact that motors comply with theessential requirements of the Directivesis shown by the CE mark on theirnameplates and/or packaging anddocumentation.Dyneo Synchronous motors combining reluctance and permanent magnets - 5729 en - 2020.03 / a13
