Just so you know, this past program was really one you really will be sorry you missed! How do Iknow, because I missed it too. I was out of town. What is your reason? Before I finish this article – I'mgoing to tell you what I intend to do to see that I can have an opportunity to make up for what I missed, Isuggest you stay tuned!Sara Wampole gave a talk on Hitchcock Woods. She talked about the project to bring back theRed-cockaded Woodpecker, that was missing from this area especially the Hitchcock Woods for quitesome time. It was no small task, but because of the work of some very dedicated people it has beensuccessful . She talked about how they made homes for them in just the right trees so that they could justmove right in without working so hard (turn key so to speak). It was no small task! She talked aboutseeing the Kalmia in bloom in the Woods – that I have seen, it is worth a special trip! In fact Sara giveswalking tours of the woods from time to time. I'm going to see that I go on one with her. If you want tosee the woods through the eyes of a true “Lover of Hitchcock Woods” do what I'm going to do and getin touch with Sara! Our next program is called Zero Scaping. This is how to get your property to look good with just a littlework! Isn't that what all of us are trying to do? Again, I suggest that you come to our next meeting onMarch 16th at 10:30 in the Dogwood Room. It's not too late to be a part of a really special group – Comeon you know you want to be there! Before I sign off until next month, The Houndslake Garden Club would like to extend VERY SPECIALTHANKS to Jim Johnson for framing and installing the new sign for the Carolina Fence Garden. Check itout! If you have any questions about the Houndslake Garden Club, please callJane Rordam 648-5137. I have the answer or I can get it for you!We are very fortunate to be a part of such a wonderful community such asHoundslake. It takes teamwork, dedication, and hard work from many people tomake the club special. We are grateful for everyone: (the homeowners, members, volunteers, and staff) who contribute to the greater good of the community.During the month of February, many volunteers took time and out of their busyschedule to do various jobs around the club, such as pressure washing, putting upnew signs, and working around the tennis courts.Special thanks to Letti Book, Paulette Welsch, Jerry Clements, Sandra Shelly, SherryWilliamson, Maureen Bergstrom, Judy Clements, Dick Funkhouser, and DonCarlberg for all of the hard work they have done. We sincerely apologize if thereis someone we have missed.Thank you! The club would certainly not survive without this support.
