Setting Up Your PhoneThe nano-SIM card can be installed or removed while thephone is turned on.Power off your phone before removing or replacing the battery.WARNING!To avoid damage to the phone, do not use any other kind ofSIM cards, or any non-standard nano-SIM card cut from aSIM card. You can get a standard nano-SIM card from yourservice provider.1. Place your finger into the slot at the bottom of the backcover, and gently lift and remove the cover.11

2. Install the nano-SIM card and the microSDXC card asshown. Micro SD memory card is optional if you want toincrease device storage.12

3. Insert the battery, making sure the connectors align.Gently push down on the battery until it clicks into place.4. Replace the back cover.Charging the PhoneYour phone’s battery should have enough power for thephone to turn on, find a signal, and make a few calls. Youshould fully charge the battery as soon as possible.WARNING!Use only ZTE-approved chargers and USB cables. The useof unapproved accessories could damage your phone orcause the battery to explode.13

NOTE:If the battery is extremely low, you may be unable to poweron the phone even when it is being charged. In this case, tryagain after charging the phone for at least 20 minutes.Contact the customer service if you still cannot power on thephone after prolonged charging.Powering On/Off Press and hold the Power key to turn on your phone. To switch it off, hold the Power key to open the optionsmenu and touch Shut Down OK.Setting Up for the First TimeWhen you first power on your phone after you purchase it orreset it to factory settings, you need to do some settingsbefore using it.Touch the language to select the language you want to useand then touch START. Then follow the prompts to set upWi-Fi, name, screen lock, Google services, and otheroptions.14

Knowing the Home ScreenThe home screen is the starting point for your phone’sapplications, functions, and menus. You can customize yourhome screen by adding folders, shortcuts, and more.Your home screen is extendable, providing more space forshortcuts and folders. Touch and hold a shortcut or folderand drag it to the right edge of the screen to create anextended panel for the shortcut/folder. Swipe left or right onthe screen to switch between panels.15

View Notifications and the QuickSettings PanelPull down from the top of the screen to view yourNotifications. Pull down again to open the quick settingspanel:Pull down from the top of the screenTouch the Settings icon as ashortcut to the Settings menu:Settings16

PersonalizingChoosing Your WallpaperYou can set the wallpaper for the home screen and the lockscreen.1. Touch and hold on a blank area of the home screen andtouch WALLPAPERS.2. Touch My photos to select an image or directly touch abuilt-in static wallpaper. For images in My photos, youcan pan and zoom on them to select the area you need.3. Touch Set wallpaper.4. Touch Home screen, Lock screen, or Home screenand lock screen.NOTE:You can also set the wallpaper at Settings Display Wallpaper.Removing Items from Your HomeScreen1. Touch and hold the item you want to delete.2. Drag it toRemove to delete it.17

NOTE:If the item is an app icon, you may also drag it toUninstall and touch OK to uninstall the app. Somepreinstalled apps cannot be uninstalled.Using Do Not Disturb ModeYou can limit interruptions with Do not disturb mode. Thismode silences your phone so that it doesn’t make sounds orvibrate when you don’t want it to.Turn on Do Not Disturb Mode1. Swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers toaccess the Quick Settings.2. Touch the Do not disturb icon.3. Long press on the Do not disturb icon to set the do notdisturb options.NOTE:Press the Volume key to see the current media volume.Press the bell icon to change the Ringtone mode to Vibrateor Silent.18

Knowing the BasicsMonitoring the Phone StatusThe status bar at the top of the home screen provides phoneand service status icons on the right side. Notification IconsThe status bar at the top of the home screen providesnotification icons on the left. You can open the notificationpanel to view the details of notifications. To open the notification panel, swipe your finger downfrom the top of the screen. To close the notification panel, swipe your finger up onthe screen or touch the Back key.20

Using Quick SettingsThe Quick Settings make it convenient to view or change themost common settings for your phone.Swipe down from the status bar and drag the notificationpanel downwards to open the Quick Settings panel.To turn on or off settings quickly:1. Open the Quick Settings panel.2. To turn on or off a setting, touch its tile. Touch and holdcertain tiles to access more setting options. For example,touch and hold the Wi-Fi tile to open Wi-Fi settings.To customize the Quick Settings panel:You can add, remove or rearrange the tiles on the QuickSettings panel.1. Open the Quick Settings panel.2. Touchbelow the tiles and do one of the following. Touch and hold a tile and drag it to the position you want. Touch and hold a tile and drag it to the Drag here toremove section to hide it. In the Drag to add tiles section, drag a tile up toshow it in the Quick Settings panel.21

Opening and Switching AppsOpen an App1. Swipe up on the home screen to view apps.2. Slide up or down on the screen and touch an app to openit.NOTE:Drag the slider on the right side of the screen to the initialletter of the app you need, or touch the search box at the topto search for apps.Switch between Recently Opened Apps1. Touch the Recent apps key. The apps you’ve usedrecently are displayed as a series of cards. Slide up anddown to see all the cards.2. Touch a card to open that app.NOTES: You can swipe a card left to remove it from the screen,which will free up running memory on the phone. Double-tap the Recent apps key to switch to the mostrecent app.22

SecurityProtecting Your Phone with a ScreenLock1. Swipe up from the home screen and touch Settings Security & location Screen lock.2. Touch None, Swipe, Pattern, PIN, or Password. Touch None to disable the screen lock.Touch Swipe to allow unlocking with a ‘swipe'gesture. Anyone can unlock the screen by touchingthe display and sliding up. Touch Pattern to create a pattern that you must drawto unlock the screen. Touch PIN or Password to set a numeric PIN or apassword that you must enter to unlock the screen.NOTE:When setting up a Pattern, PIN, or Password lock, you cantouch YES to enable or NO to disable secure start-up, whichrequires you to unlock before the phone starts up.23

Protecting Your Phone with ScreenPinningYou can use the screen pinning feature to keep an app inview, so others cannot switch to other apps or access yourpersonal information.Turn On Screen Pinning1. Swipe up from the home screen and touch Settings Security & location Screen pinning.2. Touch the Off switch.3. To add security for unpinning, switch on Lock devicewhen unpinning and set up a screen lock as prompted,or switch on Ask for unlock pattern/PIN/passwordbefore unpinning if you’ve set a screen lock already.Pin a Screen1. Ensure that screen pinning is turned on.2. Open the app you want to keep in view.3. Touch the Recent apps key.4. If there are many app tabs, swipe up to findfront-most tab.5. Touch.24on the

Unpin the ScreenTo unpin the screen and return to normal use, touch andhold the Back key.If you have asked for the unlock pattern, PIN or passwordbefore unpinning the screen, swipe up on the lock screenand draw the pattern or enter the PIN/password.25

Connecting to NetworksConnecting to Mobile NetworkSet Access Point NamesTo connect to the Internet, you can use the default AccessPoint Names (APN). And if you want to add a new APN,please contact the service provider to get the necessaryinformation.1. Swipe up from the home screen and touch Settings Network & Internet Mobile network.2. Touch Access Point Names .3. Touch each item to enter the information you get fromyour service provider.4. Touch Save to complete.NOTE:To set the APN to default settings, on the APNs screentouch Reset to default.Turn on/off Mobile Data Switches1. Swipe up from the home screen and touch Settings Network & Internet.2. Turn on mobile data related switches.26

Switch on/off Mobile data to turn on/off mobile dataaccess. Switch on/off Roaming to turn on/off mobile data whenroaming. Switch on/off Mobile data always online to conservepower and data. You may need to manually refresh inapplications to update online data.Connecting to a Wi-Fi Network1. Swipe up from the home screen and touch Settings Network & Internet Wi-Fi.2. Slide the Wi-Fi switch to the On position to turn it on.3. Touch a network name to connect to it.4. If the network is secured, enter the password and touchCONNECT.NOTE:Your phone automatically connects to previously used Wi-Finetworks when they are in range.27

Connecting to DevicesBluetooth Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communicationtechnology. Phones or other devices with Bluetoothcapabilities can exchange information wirelessly within adistance of about 10 meters (33 feet). The Bluetooth devicesmust be paired before communication is performed.1. Swipe up from the home screen and touch Settings Connected devices Bluetooth.2. Slide the switch to the On position if Bluetooth is off.3. Touch Pair new device. Your phone automatically scansfor and displays the IDs of all available Bluetooth devicesin range.4. Touch the device you want to pair with.5. If necessary, confirm that the Bluetooth passkeys are thesame between the two devices and touch PAIR.Alternatively, enter a Bluetooth passkey and touch PAIR.Pairing is successfully completed when the other deviceaccepts the connection or the same passkey is entered.NOTES: When Bluetooth is on, thebar.icon appears in the status28

The Bluetooth passkey may be fixed for certain devices,such as headsets and hands-free car kits. You can tryentering 0000 or 1234 (the most common passkeys), orrefer to the documents for that deviceWi-Fi Direct Wi-Fi Direct allows Wi-Fi devices to share files and datadirectly by connecting to each other without wireless accesspoints (hotspots).To connect to another device via Wi-Fi Direct:1. Swipe up from the home screen and touch Settings Network & Internet Wi-Fi.2. Slide up on the screen and touch Wi-Fi preferences Advanced Wi-Fi Direct. Your phone will search forother devices enabled with Wi-Fi Direct connections.3. Touch a device with which to connect below Peerdevices.NOTES:The other device will receive a connection prompt andneed to accept the request for connection. Both devicesmay need to enter a common PIN.4. Once connected the device is displayed as “Connected”in the Peer devices list.29

Connecting to a Computer via USBYou can connect your phone to a computer with a USBcable and transfer music, pictures, and other files in bothdirections. Your phone stores these files in the phonestorage or on a removable microSDXC card.USB tethering will be turned off automatically when you useUSB to transfer files between your phone and computer.Connect Your Phone to the Computer1. Connect your phone to a PC with a USB cable.2. Unlock the screen, open the notification panel and touchAndroid system – Charging this device via USB.3. Choose one of the following options. File transfer – touch this to transfer files to a PC USB tethering – select this to use your phone as aUSB tethered modem. Install all the drivers. PTP – use for photo transfer. Charge this device: Charge your phone via USB. Install driver – use this option to install the tetheringdriversMAC UsersDownload Android File Transfer and install on your MAC.30

Sharing Your Mobile DataConnectionYou can share your phone’s data capabilities throughtethering or by activating the Wi-Fi hotspot feature to createa mobile hotspot.Sharing Your Mobile Data Connectionthrough TetheringYou can use tethering to share your phone’s Internetconnection with a computer or other device that connects toyour phone via USB cable or by Bluetooth.1. Swipe up from the home screen and touch Settings Network & Internet Hotspot & tethering.2. Switch on USB tethering or Bluetooth tethering. For USB tethering, connect your phone to thecomputer with the supplied USB cable beforetouching USB tethering. For Bluetooth tethering, pair your phone with anotherdevice via Bluetooth and set the device to obtain itsnetwork connection via Bluetooth.To stop sharing your data connection, switch off USBtethering or Bluetooth tethering.31

Sharing Your Mobile Data Connectionas a Wi-Fi HotspotYou can share your phone’s data connection with otherdevices by turning your phone into a portable Wi-Fi hotspot.The feature requires data connection on a mobile networkand may result in data charges.NOTE:When the portable Wi-Fi hotspot feature is enabled, youcannot use your phone’s Wi-Fi capability to access theInternet. You still remain connected to the Internet via yourmobile data network.1. Swipe up from the home screen and touch Settings Network & Internet Hotspot & tethering.2. Touch Wi-Fi hotspot to turn it on.After a moment, the phone starts broadcasting its Wi-Finetwork name (SSID).3. On another device, locate your phone via Wi-Fi andconnect with it to start using the phone’s mobile data.NOTE:To stop sharing your data connection, touch Wi-Fi hotspotagain to turn it off.32

Phone CallsPlacing CallsPlace a Call by Dialing1. From the home screen, touch .2. Touchto open the dial pad and enter the phonenumber or the contact name. Touchto deleteincorrect digits.NOTE:As you enter the phone number or the contact name,your phone searches for matching information in yourcontacts. If you see the number and contact you want tocall, touch it to place the call immediately.3. Touchbelow the keypad to dial.NOTE:To make an international call, touch and hold the 0 key toenter the plus ( ) symbol. Next, enter the country code,followed by the city/area code and then the phone number.Place a Call from the Call History1. From the home screen, touch2. Touch .next to an entry in the history list to call back.33

Place a Call from a Text MessageWhile viewing a text message, you can call the sender orphone numbers contained in the message.1. From the home screen, touch2. Touch the conversation.3. To call the message sender, touchat the top; to calla number in the message text, touch the number andtouch.Call Your Contacts1. From the home screen touchthe home screen and touch , or swipe up on.2. Touch the contact you want to call.3. Touchthe call.next to the contact’s phone number to placeAnswering or Rejecting CallsAnswer a CallWhen you receive a phone call, swipe up on the screen toanswer the call.- or If the screen is unlocked, touch ANSWER.34

NOTE:To silence the ringer before answering the call, press eitherof the Volume keys.Reject a CallWhen you receive a phone call, swipe down on the screen toreject the call.You can also swipe fromat the bottom left to reject thecall and select a preset text message or edit one to send tothe caller.- or If the screen is unlocked, touch DECLINE to reject the call.Call OptionsDuring a call, you will see a number of on-screen options.Touch an option to select it. Touchto turn on or off the speaker. Touchto mute or unmute your microphone. Touchto switch to the keypad when you need toenter a code (for example, the PIN for your voicemail)during the call. Touch Touchto make another call separately from the firstcall, which is put on hold.to put the call on hold.35

Touchto merge the separate calls into a singleconference call. Touchto put the caller you are speaking to on hold,and switch to the other call that has been put on hold. Touchto end the current call.WARNING!Because of higher volume levels, do not place the phonenear your ear during speakerphone use.Call SettingsCall settings let you set fast dial, voicemail, call forwarding,and other settings.1. From the home screen touch2. Touch.next to Search contacts.3. Touch Settings.36

ContactsYou can add contacts on your phone and synchronize themwith the contacts in your Google account or other accountsthat support contact syncing. You can view and add contactinformation directly from Phone, Gmail, and messageapplications.Creating a Contact1. Swipe up from the home screen and touch2. Touch.to add a contact.3. The first time you create a contact, choose the defaultaccount for new contacts.4. Touch Saving to to choose where to save the contact.You can save the contact on the phone, the nano-SIMcard, or a web account (such as Google).5. Enter the contact name, phone numbers, emailaddresses, and other information.6. Touch SAVE.Searching for a Contact1. Swipe up from the home screen and touch2. Touch.at the top of the screen.3. Input the contact name or any information the contact37

has to search for it. The contacts matched will be listed.Importing and Exporting ContactsYou can import/export contacts from one account to another,or from/to the phone storage or an installed microSDXCcard. This is especially useful when you need to transfercontacts between different devices.Import/Export Contacts between Accounts1. Swipe up from the home screen and touch2. Touchto. Settings Import/Export contacts Copy3. Touch the account you want to copy contacts data to.NOTE:Copying contacts from other accounts to the nano-SIMcard may lose some information.4. Touch the contact you want to copy or touchselect, check multiple contacts, and touch Multi.Import Contacts from the Phone Storage orthe microSDXC Card1. Swipe up from the home screen and touch.2. Swipe up from the home screen and touch.2. Touch Settings Import/Export contacts Export to .vcf file.3. Touch the contact you want to export or touchselect, check multiple contacts, and touch . Multi4. Touchand select the directory in which the vCardfile will be saved. Touch Show internal storage ifneeded.5. Edit the file name if needed and touch SAVE to createthe file.Setting a Ringtone for a ContactAssign a special ringtone to a contact, so you know who iscalling when you hear the ringtone.1.
