Items from our Math AT Library T-TAC/ODUThe Coin-u-lator is a hand-held, coin-countingcalculator that makes counting money fun and easy. This breakthrough invention in counting coins waspatented by a special education teacher for studentsof all ages.Coin AbacusThe Coin-u-lator allows individuals of all abilities toadd and subtract various denominations of coins whileit teaches the different values of each coin. It can addor subtract any combination of coins and bills up to 99.99, and it has two different coin games. The Coin Abacus makes the money-counting processeasy because students see the coins and dollar billsas they count. Students use their fingers to slide therealistic coins and bills from left to right. When eachcoin or bill reaches the right side, the Coin Abacusdisplays the new total on the easy-to-read LCD screenon the right. When a coin or bill is moved back to theleft, the amount is subtracted from the total. Studentssee how different coin combinations can equal thesame amount of money.Money CalculatorThe Money Calc has two modes: The Money Calc andCalc Mode. In the Money Calc mode, the LCD screenshows values as decimals with the dollar sign, dollars, and cents. For example, when 2.50 is added to 2.50the screen displays 5.00, unlike a traditionalcalculator, which converts the amount to 5. The MoneyCalc can also be used to teach subtraction andcalculate change. In the Calc Mode, the Money Calcfunctions as a traditional calculator for working mathproblems that do not involve money.Coin-u-latorSimplify math computations with this easy-to-usecalculator that 'talks.' The Talking Calculator states allentries and computations in two ways: completenumber speech ('seventy-eight') or digit by digit('seven, eight'). Allows students to see, hear, and learnmath.Talking Calculator

Both show change back examples.Includes Win/Mac CD with printable PDF worksheetsand forms.Software:Pizza MathBasic Menu MathDrug Store MathEach unit features several themed scenes, like"Pizza Gallery," "Oven Hot Shots," and "TrickyToppings," where students complete a variety ofactivities. The same scenes are featured in eachunit so that students are able to "hang out" at all ofthe cool outer space scenes, regardless of their skilllevel. Although the units are sequential, studentscan start at the beginning of the program or selecttopics and activities to work on based on individualneeds or interests. Units include Patterns, Addition,Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, and Fractions.Skillfully produced in an engaging game format,Basic Menu Math Software provides hours of funwhile improving independent math skills, basicreading skills, and sight-reading skills. Full-colorfood illustrations and voice narrations make theprogram ideal for individuals who have limited or noreading skills.Software programs give students realisticexperience in looking for and buying items on ashopping list as well as getting the "best buy" at astore. Each program covers 70 items commonlyfound in discount or drug stores, expandingstudents'' vocabulary while improving their decisionmaking and addition skills. Game play works thesame as in Grocery Store Software.Drug StoreDepartments include Medicine, Hair Products,Greeting Cards, and Skin Care. Items includevitamins, shampoo, birthday card, and soap.

Discount Store MathSoftware programs give students realisticexperience in looking for and buying items on ashopping list as well as getting the "best buy" at astore. Each program covers 70 items commonlyfound in discount or drug stores, expandingstudents'' vocabulary while improving their decisionmaking and addition skills. Game play works thesame as in Grocery Store Software.Discount StoreDepartments include Kitchen Supplies, SchoolSupplies, Pet Section, and Clothing. Items includebaking dish, pencils, dog food, and tennis shoes.Software program teaches basic money handlingskills in an interactive computer game format.Where does my money go?Offered in both Level I and Level II software, thisformat teaches counting and shopping skills in arelaxed setting, with voice prompts and colorfulcontemporary graphics to cue players as theyconduct money transactions at the grocery store, restaurant, mall, and shopping mart. The program addresses earning money, paying fairshare of weekly and monthly bills, dealing with goodand bad luck money situations, and more.Banking MathUses everyday events to teach middle and highschool students basic math concepts and bankingskills. One hundred stories walk the studentsthrough realistic events, such as receiving apaycheck and going to the movies. Students usemath strategies to solve the problem and thencomplete a banking transaction. Two levels of playmake the program appropriate for students ofvarying ability levels. Instructional help is availablefor students as needed. The narrator also reinforcesconcepts, such as how to set up a math problem, when students make mistakes.

Revised with new money graphics, scanningcapabilities and an option for instructors to selectthe shopping lists. In Spending Money, usersbrowse through eight stores in a "money mall" andbuy products like sweaters or soft drinks. TheySelect appropriate bills and coins and receivechange back. Separate exercises let studentspractice their money handling skills, with theteacher choosing if the student pays with coins orbills and if the exact amount is required. In theshopping option, the teacher decided how much thestudent has to spend.TimeScales has three modules of increasingdifficulty: Hours of the day, minutes of the hour andfrom time to time. Each module has a multiplechoice and set-the-clock option. You determine thenature of the stimuli or prompt. Choose fromvarying clock faces, digital time, time in words oraudio cue only. A preference menu lets youinfluence the difficulty of each question. Featureseasy to understand graphics, clear audio, scoringand the ability to save student files. TimeScalesCD-ROM is touch screen, single switch andIntelliKeys compatible.MatchTime features a programmed learningapproach for students who struggle with timeconcepts. Four progressively difficult levels eachprovide a pre-set sequence of multiple choicematching exercises. Students simply find the clockthat matches the large sample clock in Levels 1through 3. Level 4 introduces the concepts of“earlier” and “later.” Extensive record keeping tracksstudent progress.Level 1 focuses on matching the hour hand whileLevel 2 introduces fifteen minute intervals. Level 3provides exercises using all the minutes and Level4 progresses to clocks that are up to four hoursearlier or later than the sample. Digital and analogclocks are used. MatchTime CD-ROM is touchscreen, single switch and IntelliKeys compatible.

Basic Fractions CD-ROM provides engaginggraphics which stimulate learners of any age.Presents wholes, halves, thirds, quarters, sixthsand eighths in illustrations of familiar foods.Provides practice in naming and recognizingfractions as parts of a unit whole, of collections andas measurements, plus practice identifyingequivalent fractions. Three activities: “Name”,“Match” and a Concentration Game that rewardscorrect matches with vivid illustrations showing reallife uses of fractions. Includes progress assessmentquizzes. Print and save results for a permanentrecord.3 LEVELSLevel 1 teaches and reinforces the most basic mathskills. Levels 2 and 3 introduce more challengingconcepts. Each level is divided into units that coverskills taught in the print program. Every unit beginswith a clear explanation of the concept. Studentsthen complete a variety of interactive problems topractice and master the skill covered in that unit.Because the skills taught are so basic, the units arebest used sequentially.LEVEL 1 COVERSNumber Recognition (0-10)Counting (1-10)Ordinal NumbersGreater Than/Less Than2-D Shapes and PatternsLEVEL 2 COVERSNumbers and Counting (11-20)3-D Shapes and PatternsGraphsAddition Facts to 10Subtraction Facts From 10Basic Picture MathLEVEL 3 COVERSNumbers and Skip Counting to 100MoneyAddition Facts to 18Subtraction Facts From 18FractionsMeasurement
