GENERAL INFORMATIONThe purpose of this manual is to assist youin operating and maintaining your OffsetDisc Harrow. Read it carefully. It furnishesinformation and instructions that will helpyou achieve years of dependable performance.These instructions have been compiledfrom field experience and engineeringdata. Some information may be general innature, due to unknown and varying operating conditions. However, through experience and these instructions, you shouldbe able to develop procedures suitable toyour particular situation.The illustrations and data used in thismanual were current at the time of printing. However, due to possible inline production changes, your machine may varyslightly in detail. We reserve the right toredesign and change the machines asmay be necessary without notification.Throughout this manual, references aremade to right and left direction. SAFETY RULESATTENTION! BECOME ALERT! YOUR SAFETY IS INVOLVED!Safety is a primary concern in the design andmanufacture of our products. Unfortunately, ourefforts to provide safe equipment can be wipedout by an operator’s single careless act.rough-soled work shoes and protective equipment for eyes, hair, hands, hearing, and head;and respirator or filter mask where appropriate.In addition to the design and configuration ofequipment, hazard control and accident prevention are dependent upon the awareness, concern, judgement, and proper training of personnel involved in the operation, transport, maintenance and storage of equipment. Make sure attachment is properly secured,adjusted, and in good operating condition.It has been said “The best safety device is aninformed, careful operator.”We ask you to bethat kind of operator.TRAINING Safety instructions are important! Read allattachment and power unit manuals; follow allsafety rules and safety decal information.(Replacement manuals are available from selling dealer.) Failure to follow instructions orsafety rules can result in serious injury ordeath. If you do not understand any part of this manual and need assistance, see your dealer. Operators must be instructed in and be capable of the safe operation of the equipment, itsattachments, and all controls. Do not allow anyone to operate this equipment without properinstructions. Power unit must be equipped with ROPS orROPS cab and seat belt. Keep seat beltsecurely fastened. Falling off power unit canresult in death from being run over or crushed.Keep foldable ROPS system in “locked up”position at all times. A minimum 20% of tractor and equipmentweight must be on the tractor front wheelswhen attachments are in transport position.Without this weight, tractor could tip over, causing personal injury or death. The weight may beattained with a loader, front wheel weights, ballast in tires or front tractor weights. Weigh thetractor and equipment. Do not estimate.TRANSPORTATION Always comply with all state and local lawsgoverning highway safety and lighting andmarking requirements. Never allow riders on power unit or attachment. Do not operate or transport on steep slopes. Never allow children or untrained persons tooperate equipment. Use extreme care and reduce ground speedon slopes and rough terrain. Train all new personnel and review instruction’sfrequently with existing workers. A person whohas not read and understood all operating andsafety instructions is not qualified to operate themachine. An untrained operator exposes himselfand bystanders to possible serious injury ordeath. Do not operate or transport equipment whileunder the influence of alcohol or drugs. Always comply with all state and local lawsgoverning highway safety and lighting andmarking requirements. Operate only in daylight or good artificiallight. Keep bystanders away from equipment. Keep hands, feet, hair, and clothing awayfrom equipment while engine is running. Stayclear of all moving parts. Power unit must be equipped with ROPS orROPS cab and seat belt. Keep seat beltsecurely fastened. Falling off power unit canresult in death from being run over or crushed.Keep foldable ROPS system in “locked up”position at all times. Never allow riders on power unit or attachment. Always sit in power unit seat when operatingcontrols or starting engine. Securely fastenseat belt, place transmission in neutral, engagebrake, and ensure all other controls are disengaged before starting power unit engine. Look down and to the rear and make surearea is clear before operating in reverse. Use extreme care when working close to fences,ditches, other obstructions, or on hillsides. Do not operate or transport on steep slopes. Do not stop, start, or change directions suddenly on slopes. Always operate down slopes;never across the face. Use extreme care and reduce ground speedon slopes and rough terrain. Keep alert and watch the front as well as therear when operating. When making gang adjustments, be careful tokeep hands and feet clear of sliding parts andpossible pinch points. Stop power unit and equipment immediatelyupon striking an obstruction. Turn off engine,remove key, inspect, and repair any damagebefore resuming operation. Before leaving operator’s seat, lower lift armsand put attachment on the ground.
