Why does this work need to be done?Poorly Written ApplicationWell-written ApplicationThree years ago St Joseph’sidentified a need to build arefuge which combines anaddiction recovery facility andtransitional accommodation inSouth XXX. This facility willprovide services for men andwomen adversely affected byalcohol, drugs and gambling,and offer temporary housing forthose whose lives have beenaffected by addiction and whodo not have access topermanent housing.XXX City Council’s 2006 Census found atotal of 7,996 people are homeless inXXX. More than 2,000 of these wereidentified within Inner City XXX. Despitethese numbers, there is currently NOfacility in South XXX which offers bothonsite addiction recovery supportservices and temporaryaccommodation. Reports show thatpeople with mental health or substanceabuse issues have particular difficulty inmaintaining housing(www.lmct.org.au/homelessness-facts).To this end, St Joseph’s will join forceswith ABC Health Services to establish anew addiction recovery centre, wherehomeless men and women can receiveboth help to recover from substanceaddiction and a temporary roof overtheir heads. This modelemploys both quantitative andqualitative indicators to gauge theproject effectiveness for all keystakeholders.
