1SAfetySafety - conformity was demonstrated by meeting thefollowing standards:HEALTH & SAFETY INFORMATIONThe installer should be aware of his/her responsibilitiesunder the current, local Health and Safety at Work Act. Theinterests of safety are best served if the boiler is installedand commissioned by a competent, qualified engineer,preferably OFTEC trained and registered. A Building Noticemay be required in England and Wales and other parts of theUnited Kingdom.BS EN 60335-1: 2012 A13: 2017: Household and SimilarElectrical Appliances - Safety - Part 1: General RequirementsBS EN 60335-2-102: 2006 A2: 2016: Household andSimilar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-102: ParticularRequirements for Gas, Oil and Solid-fuel Burning Applianceshaving Electrical ConnectionsUnder the Consumer Protection Act 1987 (UK), section 6 ofthe Health and Safety Act 1974 (UK) and the Safety, Healthand Welfare at Work Act 2005 (ROI), we are required toprovide information on substances hazardous to health.SafetySafe use of Kerosene. These fuels give off a flammablevapour when heated moderately. Vapour ignites easily, burnsintensely and may cause explosion. The vapour can followalong at ground level for considerable distances from opencontainers and spillages collecting as an explosive mixture indrains, cellars, etc.Insulation and SealsCeramic Fibre, Alumino - Silicone Fibre material are used forboards, ropes and gaskets. Known hazards are that peoplemay suffer reddening and itching of the skin. Fibre enteringthe eye will cause foreign body irritation. It may also causeirritation to the respiratory tract.Fuels remove natural oils and fats from the skin and this maycause irritation and cracking of skin. Barrier cream containinglanolin is highly recommended together with good personalhygiene and where necessary appropriate persona protectionequipment (P.P.E.).Precautions should be taken by people with a history ofskin complaints or who may be particularly susceptible toirritation. High dust levels are only likely to arise followingharsh abrasion. Suitable personal protective equipmentshould be worn where appropriate.Gas oil may also cause irreversible damage to health onprolonged or repeated skin contact.Generally, normal handling and use will not give discomfort.Follow good hygiene practices, wash hands beforeconsuming food, drink or using the toilet.Always store fuels in a properly constructed and labelledtank. Always handle fuel in open air or well ventilated spaceaway from sources of ignition and refrain from smoking.First Aid - medical attention should be sought following eyecontact or prolonged reddening of the skin.Always drain fuel using a proper fuel retriever, funnel ormechanical siphon. Never apply heat to a fuel tank, containeror pipework. Never siphon fuel through tube by mouth.The small quantities of adhesives and sealants used in theproduct are cured. They present no known hazards whenused in the manner for which they are intended.Avoid inhaling fuel vapour as this can cause light headednessand seriously impair judgement.Fuel SpillageTHIS PRODUCT HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO THE FOLLOWINGSTANDARDS:1. Switch off all electrical and other ignition sources.This equipment complies with the Low Voltage Directive2014/35/EU and Directive 2014/30/EU.2. Remove all contaminated clothing to safeguard againstfire risk and skin damage. Wash affected skin thoroughlywith soap and water and remove clothing to a safe wellventilated area and allow to air before cleaning.EMC - conformity was demonstrated by meeting thefollowing standards:3. 22.1 STANDARDS & REGULATIONS - Condensate DisposalFirebird condensing boilers, when in condensing mode, extract more heat from the flue products and the resultingcondensate which is mildly acidic, needs to be drained from the boiler via a condensate pipe to the drainage system.Provision must be made for the removal of condensate from the boiler to an internal soil stack, waste pipe,external soil stack, gully or soak-away, as per BS 6798: 2014.The condensate trap is provided with the boiler and situated on the front of the boiler (under the cleaning door). 22.2 STANDARDS & REGULATIONS - Flue REGULATIONSBalanced Flue SitingThe terminal should be positioned to avoid combustion products entering the building or accumulating instagnant pockets around buildings. The terminal must be protected by a guard if it is less than 2 metres aboveground level or in a position where any person has access to it (i.e. a balcony). 22.2 STANDARDS & REGULATIONS - Flue REGULATIONSNotes: These notes form an integral part of the information shown on the previous page.1. Terminals should be positioned to avoid products of combustion accumulating in stagnant pockets around thebuilding, or entering into buildings.2. This kit does notdraw combustion air from inside the room. It is drawn from outside, direct to the burner by an air pipe supplied with theboiler. Flue gases are expelled through the same kit. However, if the boiler is installed in a compartment or small room, someventilation air is necessary to maintain an acceptable temperature in the boiler
