Secure Host Explorer FTP SetupSetup InstructionsHost Explorer is the terminal emulation software that allows users to connect their PC to the mainframein a secure environment. For example, this allows users to connect to mainframe systems such as FAMISand BPP. A useful component to this software is Host Explorer FTP, which allows users to accomplishsecure data file transfers. If you haven't already changed your Host Explorer FTP settings, then followthe instructions below to set up your "secure" ftp client.Begin using Host Explorer FTP: Click All Programs Open Text Host explorer / Connection Central(Doing this brings up a Connection Central panel).Set Up a New Profile: Double click on the New FTP Profile itemFTP Site Properties Box Settings:General Tab Settings Fill in the host address for the server you will connect to.For example, to connect to the TAMU-CIS mainframe, use the following settings:Connection Type . Download File with Host Explorer FTP ClientFrom your PC Desktop, double click the new Hummingbird FTP icon to launch theHummingbird FTP client orSelect the appropriate profile from Connection Central1. In the User Login box, fill in your User Name and Password to match your FAMIS UserID (you mayhave to do this twice as it builds directory information).This will connect you to the TAMU-CIS mainframe.2. From here, you can use the Change Directory (located at the top of the panel in the middle) icon tochange the directory to the files you want to see or seek to download. All of the files that are located in that destination will appear: Click to highlight the file that you want to downloadRight click and click on Download to download the file to your PC.Choose the folder to save it inChange the file name (if preferred)Click on the Save button to download the fileRemember the save file name!4. Wait until download is completed.with proper messages.to assure transfer is complete.5. Click the Done button. Open a file Explorer window displaying where the file to be uploaded is stored on your localcomputer:In this example, the file name on your PC must be invline.prn or invhdr.prn (based on FAMISnaming conventions for this job). “Drag and drop” this new file and place it into the k707xx.arloaddirectory. Wait untilthe upload is completed.with proper messages.to assure transfer is complete.4.
