They require a reading and a writing activity, so they willrequire time and focus. For this reason, the reading activities are worth more than discussionsand journals. The purpose of the reading activity is to strengthen reading and writing skills andbetter prepare you for larger summative reading assessments. The readings will vary according tomodule theme and/or module purpose. This rubric assesses cognitive ability and mechanical ability.Formal Writing AssignmentsAssignments are high-stakes summative assessments. They require a document uploadand always require MLA8 format and style. This is a formal approach to writing, so students canrecognize formal versus informal writing. These assignments follow an assignment-gradingrubric. This rubric puts an emphasis on cognitive ability while also assessing the student'smechanical ability.Final ExamThe final exam is a summative assessment of the work taught throughout the semester.
