Remote LearningWell done, everyone! We have had many success stories this week of increased engagement,thank you so much! Our NewsReceptionIn reception this week, we have been practicing counting backwards from 10, particularlyenjoying using the song ’10 green bottles’. However, we went up a bit higher so we could be reallife bottles standing on a wall (the carpet!) and falling down.We have been thinking a lot about how we are feeling and how we can express our feelings indifferent ways; continuing to write our cards to make others feel happy and using art as amedium to let our feelings out.In forest school this week, we have started a ‘Gratitude hunt’ looking for things we like andthings that make us happy. We have finished the week with a very warming hot chocolate withmarshmallows.Mrs Duggan/Mrs Rickard/Mrs Wilkinson and the Reception teamYear 1Year 1 have had another fabulous week learning about Julia Donaldson. This week we focused onthe story ‘The Highway Rat’. The children have created WANTED posters, apology letters andnewspaper reports about the stealing.In Maths, we have been measuring lengths and heights. We have been using the terminologylonger, shorter and taller to help us compare objects to each other.Everyone has worked incredibly hard this week and should be so proud of themselves. Make sureyou give yourself a huge marshmallow clap!Mrs Newton and the Year 1 teamLSIt has been great for Language Class to be back together again this week. We have beenfocusing on Chinese New Year and finding out about the different animals that represent the 12Years of the Chinese Zodiac. We have created riddles for others to guess which animal we aredescribing, giving cryptic clues. The Speech Therapists have been blown away by how hard wehave worked this week on our speech targets.In Forest School and science we have been looking at the different birds that come to our birdfeeder. We created detailed drawings of birds labelling their features. We have enjoyed doingactivities for Mental health week, wearing our clothes inside out and doing yoga, forest bathingand mindfulness.Mrs Stacey and the Language Class teamYear 2Year 2 have had another very busy week both in school and on Seesaw. We are so proud of howhard all of our Year 2 children have been working on every task that they have been asked todo.

In Writing this week, the children have done some fantastic writing about The Hat Maker andThe Monkeys. They have all been fantastic at remembering to use capital letters and full stopsin their writing.In Maths this week, the children have been solving problems related to multiplication anddivision. It has been wonderful to see all of the different ways the children have been workingout their answers with objects they have found around their houses.During the afternoons the children have been extremely busy finding out about Captain JamesCook for History. They then plotted his voyage on a map for Geography, they followedinstructions involving compass point directions. In science this week, the children have createda timeline of the different stages of life. In RE this week, the children have compared some ofthe similarities and differences between The Bible and The Qur’an.Mrs Vincent/Mrs Painter and the Year 2 teamYear 5Year 5 have been working very hard on their English this week. After a week of learning aboutadverbials and exploring imaginative vocabulary, children wrote some high quality recounts oftheir exploration of The Tunnel. Some of the creatures they found were frightening and amazing!Children learnt about different types of numbers in Maths: negative, squared and cubed. Keeppractising those times tables as they are so important to all of our maths lessons in Year 5.We loved seeing everyone wearing their clothes inside out on Wednesday and there were somevery thoughtful pieces of art work to detail self-expression and how we represent ourselves.Children in school and at home have completed a variety of bird based projects for our sciencework this week ranging from bird feeders, wings and model birds.Please continue to complete as many lessons as possible at home and please contact us if anyissues arise.Mrs Lawman-Smith/Mrs Briggs and the Year 5 teamYear 6Year 6 have had another fantastic week both in class and online. Everyone in the Year 6 team areincredibly proud of how hard you are all working.In Maths, we have been learning about statistics using a variety of bar graphs, pictograms andline graphs. We continue to work on instructions in English and in Reading, we have been learningabout the life and work of Sir David Attenborough and applying our comprehension skills to filmextracts.We investigated micro-organisms in Science and discovered that there are over a trillion microbesin our body! Our fitness levels continue to improve with all our hard work in P.E.We spent a relaxing afternoon in Art learning how to sketch dragon eyes and thought you mightlike to see some of our work:
