If you love the NativeAmerican Village you will love this class, and appreciate the Native way oflife much more. In this class you will learn to make your very own survivalsticks, that you can take with you on future camp outs. This is one ofcamp’s most popular classes and fills up quickly.Primitive CookingLearn Native American cooking techniques as you take a tour of historiccuisine and cooking methods. Each day is a new menu and new methods.Adults are also welcome to attend this class. 40.00 fee for food costs for the week.7

The Trailblazers ProgramScouts working on Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, or FirstClass Rank are encouraged to participate in this program.Camp La-No-Che is excited to welcome Scouts whoare at Summer Camp for the first time, and offer aplace to jump start your basic Scouting skills requiredfor Scout, Tenderfoot, Second, and First Class ranks.Using the Patrol Method, Scouts are introduced to thefundamentals of being a Boy Scout, and will leave Campwith more knowledge of that Rank. ADVANCED PROGRAMSWith advanced opportunities in areas across camp, there is somethingfor everyone!Adventure CampATV AdventureExperience the ASI ATV Safety Training Course this summer.Participants must be at least 14 years old or older to participate.Participants must meet age, height and weight requirements for appropriate sized ATV. Age 14to 15 years old will be riding 90cc ATVs with the max weight limit of 187 lbs and 5’7”, 16 yearsand up will be riding 250cc ATVs with the maximum weight of 231lbs. to 386 lbs. depending onmanufacture.REQUIRED: ALL participants must have long sleeve shirts, long pants and over the ankle boots.Participants must have valid proof of age either a copy of birth certificate or state issued ID card.ATV hold harmless form and rider rules form (link in ‘required forms’ section of this guide) must becompleted by parents prior to attending camp. No exceptions.Climbing Merit BadgeSpend the week at our Climbing Tower in Dr. Phillips Park learning andimproving your climbing skills. As part of the class, participants will berappelling on Thursday at the Adventure Tower.Participants must be in good physical condition due to this activity being strenuous.REQUIRED CLOTHING: Pants or shorts made of cotton type material, hard sole shoesPERSONAL GEAR REQUIRED: Merit Badge book and worksheet, water bottle or hydration pack,bug spray and sun block.Project C.O.P.E.Project C.O.P.E. is a series of inter-related events that challenge you on anindividual and group level. Events are divided into four categories: initiativegames, trust events, low elements and high ropes course. Our course is greatfor Scouts looking to physically challenge themselves, develop team buildingskills, strengthen leadership qualities, and think outside the box.REQUIRED CLOTHING: Pants or shorts made of cotton type material, hard sole shoesAll Adventure Camp programs are strenuous and physically demanding. Participantsmust be in good physical shape and bring the following items: water bottle or hydrationpack, sun block, bug spray and all required documents and clothing for each programas stated below. Access to these documents can be found in this guide in the ‘RequiredDocuments’ section10

HorsemanshipMerit Badge*Scout will enjoy working with horses as they learn proper care,grooming, parts of the saddle and bridle, dietary requirements, and ourfavorite - a trail ride through the back country of La-No-Che.*Additional fee of 90.00 per riderREQUIRED: Participants must have a completed hold harmless form completedby parents.REQUIRED CLOTHING: Long pants (blue jeans), hard sole shoes, socksPersonal Gear required: Horsemanship Merit Badge book and worksheet, waterbottle or Hydration pack, sun block, sun glasses and bug spray.Evening Horseback Ride*Enjoy a short ride through the La-No-Che back country and play somecowboy games while you wait for your ride! You can sign up for a ridethrough the activities selection in your schedule. Open to youth andadults.*Additional fee of 10.00 per riderREQUIRED: Participants must have a completed hold harmless form completedby parents.REQUIRED CLOTHING: Long pants (blue jeans), hard sole shoes, socks11

Aquatics3-Tier Sailing ProgramBecome a member of the Lake Norris Yacht Club byparticipating in our 3-tier sailing program!LNYC has opportunities for scouts of all skill levels interestedin sailing. Spend a week learning about sailing and spendingtime out on Lake Norris.Tier 1 - Mates - earn Small Boat Sailing MBTier 2 - BoatswainTier 3 - CaptainAquatics SupervisionOpen to youth and adults. Required Age: 15 This course has 2 main components:BSA Swimming & Water RescueThis provides participants with information and skills to prevent, recognize, and respondto swimming emergencies during unit swimming activities. It expands the awarenessinstruction provided by Safe Swim Defense training. Persons completing the training willbe better able to assess their preparation to supervise unit swimming events.BSA Paddle Craft SafetyThis expands Safety Afloat training to include the skills, as well as the knowledge,needed for a unit leader to confidently supervise canoeing or kayaking activities.Persons completing this training will be better prepared to supervise paddle craftactivities.BSA and Red Cross Lifeguard*Open to youth and adults. Required Age: 15 This course is physically demanding and is only recommended forolder scouts and adults who are strong swimmers.This is a rigorous all day program that includes American Red Cross First Aidand CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer training. Participants will alsobe required to serve as a lifeguard for two evening swim session per BSALifeguard requirements. Lifeguard training is valid for two years, providedFirst Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer training are kept currentduring that period.*Additional Fee of 75.0012

Poseidon’s Odyssey*Experience the life of Poseidon, the Greek God of the Sea as youparticipate in aquatic adventures around Florida.During the week participants will:Try their hand at Stand Up Paddle boardingFish the Atlantic OceanSpend a day at Aquatica water parkSwim in springsMake their own Pancakes in an old Spanish millThis is a Mon-Thurs adventure. Scouts can still participate in a Friday activity oftheir choosing either on property or off (See “Fantastically Awesome Friday” sectionfor more info on p.24)Any unit sending three or more Scouts on Poseidon’s Odyssey will be required to providean adult leader for the week’s activities.*Additional Fee 150, which includes off-site transportation, entrance and activity fees,equipment rental as needed, and off-site meals while not at camp.Activities are subject to change, if a change should be necessary, we willnotify you as soon as possible.13

SUMMER CAMP WEEK 6SKILLED TRADESENHANCED PROGRAMOur world needs skilled workers more than ever! Scouts have always been theBEST candidates for a variety of jobs because of the amazing experiences you getthrough Merit Badge study. From astronauts to engineers, meteorologists to moviemakers, many people have gotten their start in Scouting. At Camp La-No-Che, wefeel the same about the study of the skilled (vocational) trades.so much that we have focused a whole WEEK on them!Join with other Scouts in our week-long INTENSIVE Skilled Trades EnhancedProgram and learn from EXPERTS. Choose afocused “track” from the list below and gain real life experience studying withinstructors who work in the field. Woodworkers teaching Woodworking, Plumbersteaching Plumbing, and Welders teaching Welding! End your week with an offcamp experience hosted by Valencia College where you will participate in a handson experience on their campus, opening up a path for you to an exciting futurecareer!14

Choose one of these ENHANCED Program Tracks* when youselect Merit Badge Programs:Welding and Electronics: Spend 4 days learning basic andadvanced Welding, electronic theory and technology, and more fromValencia College instructors. Visit their vocational school on Fridayand experience the real thing!Woodworking and Plumbing: Spend half of each day learning thebasics of woodworking and half the day surrounded by piping andfixtures. Then apply all your new skills on a major project to takehome and display! Friday will feature a trip to Valencia to learn howto turn your interest into a career!Robotics: Your week begins with the basics of Robotics, hostedby professionals and featuring special guest instructors bringingyour study to life. Then when you visit Valencia, be prepared to seerobotic technology in action in some exciting and unexpected ways!During Program Sign-up (starting March 1) choose “Skilled TradesEnhanced” from the Catalog and then select your track.EACH TRACK REQUIRES A 35 ADDITIONAL FEE*These “tracks” take a Scout’s ENTIRE Merit Badge Program schedule for the week.
