Instructions for Drawing Insulin from Cartridge into SyringeUse proper clean technique while performing the following:1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8.Inspect the needle and syringe package for any signs of damage.Discard any damaged product.Wash your hands thoroughly.Remove the needle and syringe from their packaging. Securely twist needleonto syringe. Safely remove protective cap from needle by pulling outward.Insert needle into the prefilled insulin container (insulin penfill or vial).Slowly pull back the plunger to the desired amount of insulin.Once filled, Remove syringe from the prefilled insulin container.Tap the syringe so that any air bubbles rise to the top. Then slowly push theplunger upwards, forcing any air bubbles out of the filling syringe.Check the syringe for air bubbles and do one of the following:» If there are air bubbles present, repeat step 7 onwards.» If no air bubbles are present, you are ready to move on to the next step.Instructions for Filling the CartridgeIf instructed to load a filled cartridge,perform the following before loadingthe cartridge onto the pump.Refer to the User Guidethat came with yoursystem for detailedinstallation instructions.1.Inspect the cartridge package for any signs of damage. Discard anydamaged product.2.Open the package and remove the cartridge.3.Hold the cartridge upright and gently insert the needle into the white insulinfill port on the cartridge (see image E). The needle is not intended to go allthe way in, so do not force it.4.Keeping the syringe vertically aligned with the cartridge, and the needleinside the fill port, pull back on the plunger until it is fully retracted(see image F). This will remove any residual air from the cartridge.Bubbles will rise toward the plunger.5.Make sure the needle is still in the fill port and release the plunger. Pressurewill pull the plunger to its neutral position but it will NOT push any air backinside the cartridge (see image G).6.Withdraw the needle from the fill port.7.Turn the syringe upright and pull down on the plunger (see image H).Flick the barrel to make sure that any air bubbles rise to the top.8.Gently press on the plunger to remove air bubbles until insulin fills the needlehub and you see a drop of insulin at the tip of the needle (see image I).9.Re-insert the needle in the fill port and slowly fill the cartridge with insulin(see image J). It is normal to feel some back pressure as you slowlypress on the plunger.10. Maintain pressure on the plunger while you remove the needle from thecartridge. Check the cartridge for leaks. If you detect insulin leaking,discard the cartridge and repeat entire process with a new cartridge.11. Always dispose of used needles, syringes, cartridges, and infusion setsfollowing your community’s regulation.6

Tandem AutoSoft 90 Infusion Set t:lockQuick Reference GuideAutoSoft 90 combines the insertion device and infusion set into a single sterile, portable unit. Ensureyou wash and dry your hands thoroughly and clean the area with a disinfectant wipe before followingthe steps below.1Check the tamper-proof sealand sterile paper. Do notuse device if the seal or paperhas been broken. Pull thered tape to remove the seal.5Connect AutoSoft 90 to a reservoir/cartridge and the pump. Prime theinfusion set according to the pumpmanufacturer’s instructions for use.Ensure there are no air bubbles inthe tubing of AutoSoft 90. 9Place AutoSoft 90 on your clean,dry insertion site and press theround indentations on each sideof the insertion mechanism atthe same time.CAUTION: before positioningAutoSoft 90 over clean insertionsite, place the tubing in the slotto ensure that the tubing is notcaught underneath the deviceduring insertion.82Pull off the sterile paper.Do not touch the spring.6Pull up gently to remove theadhesive backing paper, whichwill come off in a single piece.10Push in gently on the centre ofthe insertion mechanism tosecure adhesive on the skin.3Firmly press the three raised dotson each side of the lid with onehand and pull with the other hand.*CAUTION: be careful not to bendthe introducer needle of theAutoSoft 90 when removing the lid.7Place fingers on linedindentations when loading theinsertion mechanism. Pullspring up until you hear a“click.”11Grasp centre of insertionmechanism. Pull back gentlyand slowly. Fill the empty space inthe cannula with the followingprime:U-100 insulin6 mm: 0.3 units (0.003 mL)9 mm: 0.5 units (0.005 mL)4Carefully unwind tubing and placea finger on the adhesive backingpaper when fully unwinding thetubing. 8Carefully remove the needleguard by gently twisting andthen pulling it. Secure tubing inslot.12Put lid securely in place untilyou hear a “click.” With lidproperly connected, AutoSoft90 can be disposed of safely.* IMPORTANT NOTE: if the infusion set is not securely placed in insertion device with needle pointing straight ahead prior to insertion, pain or minor injury may occur. To avoid this, please ensure that the steps are donegently, in order not to loosen/remove the infusion set by accident. Please note: this guide only illustrates some of the steps to follow when inserting AutoSoft 90 and it is not a substitute for reading the instructions foruse and cautions, which come with the product. When initially trying a new infusion set, we recommend this to be done under the supervision of a healthcare professional. Do not touch the AutoSoft 90 introducer needle when unwinding the tubing. Be careful not to pull too hard when the tubing is fully released. You could accidentally remove the infusion set from the introducer needle. When priming the infusion set, hold AutoSoft 90 with the needle pointing down to ensure that the insulin does not come into contact with the adhesive backing paper.

Tandem AutoSoft 30 Infusion Set t:lockQuick Reference GuideAutoSoft 30 combines the insertion device and infusion set into a single sterile, portable unit. Ensureyou wash and dry your hands thoroughly and clean the area with a disinfectant wipe before followingthe steps below.1Check the tamper-proof sealand sterile paper. Do notuse device if the seal or paperhas been broken. Pull thered tape to remove the seal.523Pull off the sterile paper.Do not touch the spring.6Hold on the lined indentationswith one hand and pull the lidoff with the other.*CAUTION: be careful not tobend or touch the AutoSoft 30introducer needle.74Place your fingers on the linedindentations on each side. Pullback the spring softly until youhear a “click”. The needleprotector will lift up or peel off. Donot touch or bend the needle.8 30 Immediately before insertion,carefully bend back theneedle protector and remove it.This will remove part of theadhesive backing paper. Besure the tape is not stuck on theintroducer needle.9Remove the backing paperunder the front end. Massagethe adhesive thoroughly on tothe skin.IMPORTANT: do not attemptto straighten the adhesive ifcurled.I NSERTION: place your indexfinger on the top release buttonand your thumb on the bottomrelease button. Position AutoSoft30 with its legs level (flat) on theskin to ensure an insertion angleof 30 . Maintain a 30 angle whileinserting and gently squeezeonce to insert in AutoSoft 30.10 Putthe lid back on fordisposal.Make sure that the cannulastays in place: put your fingergently on the clear windowwhile removing the insertiondevice and introducer needle.Pull it gently straight back.Secure the cannula with onefinger on the clear window.Carefully remove the backingpaper under the cannulahousing as shown.11Remove the circular protective cap. Prime infusion set until insulindispenses from the tip. Ensure there are no air bubbles in the tubing orAutoSoft 30. Consult your pump manufacturer’s instructions for use forproper priming procedures. Place a finger in front of the cannula housing andinsert the connector needle. Make sure the connector locks with a “click.”Fill the empty space in the cannula with the following prime:U-100 insulin:0.7 units (0.007 mL)* IMPORTANT NOTE: If the infusion set is not securely placed in the insertion device with the needle pointing straight ahead, pain or minor injury may occur during insertion.
