BleLiLiBleedBlLiA higher level. That’s what you get with Ford gas enginesand transmissions.A higher build level means you’re getting engine and transmission assemblies built to the exacting specifications ofFord Motor Company. So you not only get the quality build you expect in an assembly from Ford, but also one that’s builtby using parts that keep it specific to year, make and model as well as emissions calibrations.3-Year/Unlimited-Mile Warranty – No Commercial ExceptionsFord gasoline engines and transmissions are covered by a three-year/unlimited-mile warranty.* All warranties are backedby Ford Motor Company. They’re also supported by more than 3,000 Ford and Lincoln Dealerships nationwide as well asat their originating place of service.Plus, unlike some competitors, this warranty is good for fleet vehicles. That means you get the same advantagesand coverage for commercial use, no exceptions. For technical questions, contact the Ford Powertrain Assistance Center at 1-800-392-7946 or visit FordParts.com.*See dealer for limited-warranty details. Remanufactured diesel engines are covered by a two-year/unlimited-mile warranty.Bleed5/1/14 9:11 AMiveford fm feb 2012 for 514.indd 2iveleedd

If you find excessive wear in the B1 apply boostvalve and sleeve, repair or replacethe valve body.A flaring or harsh 4-5 shift maybe caused by a worn clutch control valve or bore (figure 5). Thiswear can cause a loss of SL1 andSL2 pressure, causing an erratic 4-5shift. Valve Body ProblemsFigure 5: Worn Clutch Control ValveFigure 6: Worn Solenoid Modulator ValveErratic shifts, solenoidperformance codes, and TCCapply and release problemsmay be caused by a worn solenoid modulator valve or bore(figure 6). Excessive wear inthe solenoid modulator valveand bore can cause the valveto side load, resulting in erratic solenoid supply pressure.Repairing the solenoid modulator valve and bore will goa long way to correct erraticshifts.Harsh or soft shiftsinto a specific gear may becaused by worn accumulatorsor accumulator bores (figure7). Wear in the accumulatorbores may allow apply oil toleak, which will cause erraticshifts. Repairing the accumulator bores will correct theseproblems.Figure 7: Worn Accumulator Bores141pete 714.indd 14GEARS July 20146/30/14 3:24 PM

Valve Body ProblemsFigure 8: Worn End PlugsErratic shifts, lockup problems, and burnt clutch components may be caused by worn valve body end plugs (figure8). Worn OEM end plugs may allow line pressure and SLTpressure to leak from around the valve body bores. Installing161pete 714.indd 16O-ringed end plugs during every valve body repair shouldcorrect these problems.GEARS July 20146/30/14 3:24 PM

VBX Difference FullPage Layout 1 4/24/14 5:17 PM Page 1Can You See theDifference? We didn't think so. The fact is, with remanufactured valve bodies, what you see isn’t always what youget. Two valve bodies may look the same, but it's the work that goes into the remanufacturing processthat determines how well they perform. At Valve Body Xpress, we do one thing—remanufacture valve bodies—and we do it better than anyone.Every single one of our premium products is individually tested and calibrated to ensure peakperformance. All solenoids are either new or individually tested for integrity and efficiency, and wealways include multiple industry updates as well as our own exclusive VB-Xtra updates to guaranteethe highest-quality product every time. You can always count on expert product support and customerservice when you need it.This commitment to excellence and confidence in our product is why every valve body we deliver isbacked by a LIFETIME WARRANTY.The next time you're in the market for a remanufactured valve body, demand the best.Demand VBX. Valve Body ProblemsLube problems, bearing orbushing failures, and transmissionoverheating can becaused by a wornsecondary pressureregulator valve or bore.TCC ProblemsTCC apply and release problems,TCC slip codes, transmission overheating, and torque converter problems may be caused by a worn lockupcontrol boost valve and sleeve (figure9). This wear may cause the lockupcontrol valve to stroke on or off prematurely, causing erratic TCC operation.Repairing the lockup control boostvalve and sleeve may correct erraticTCC operation.Figure 9: Worn Lock-up Control Boost Valve and SleeveLube ProblemsLube problems, bearing or bushingfailures, and transmission overheatingcan be caused by a worn secondarypressure regulator valve or bore (figure 10). Excessive valve or bore wearat the solenoid modulator valve willcause EPC oil and balance oil pressureto leak, reducing lube flow. Repairingthe solenoid modulator valve and borewill usually correct this condition.Well there you have it: a brief lookat some of Toyota’s U660E, U660F,U760E, and U760F valve body problems and possible fixes. With a better understanding of these valve bodyproblems, you, too, should be able tokeep those trannys rolling.Figure 10: Worn Secondary Pressure Regulator Valve181pete 714.indd 18GEARS July 20146/30/14 3:24 PM
