Acceptable Serving as an advocate at a shelter Working on a crisis-call line Providing assistance to socialworkers / case managers Helping in an after-school program Working in a homeless shelter Providing educationalworkshops/outreach to clients Providing general milieu support toclients in residential treatment Observing and/or participating ingroupsUnacceptable Volunteering with an independentprivate therapist Working ONLY with animals Providing childcare at a church Solely being a one-on-one mentor inthe community with minimal agencycontact One time fundraising events,coalition or board work that does notinvolve direct outreach activities tocommunities and/or persons Assisting a classroom teacher withacademic work in a regular schoolsettingSAMPLE VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES
