Meet Your Speech HelpersRead and talk about the ten Speech Helpers with your children. Thiswill help them learn what parts of the body make speech and whichones are used to make each sound.Locate and feel each Speech Helper on your body. Then try makingsome of the sounds that go with each one.*Remember when you read letters with quotations (“K”), it means to read it as“the sound it makes without a vowel.” Do NOT say it with a vowel (“kuh” as incut) or as the letter name K (Kay).Examples:“F” is “ffffffffff”“N” is “nnnnn”“L” is “uullll”notnotnot“fuh” or “eff”“nuh” or “en”“luh” or “el”LipsPut your lips together tomake “P”, “B”, “M”, and “W”or just use your bottom lipwhen you make “F” and “V”.TeethClose your teeth to make “S”and “Z” or put your top teethon your bottom lip to make“F” and “V”.
