It can read text aloudand help you construct words andsentences. It also has many other features,such as advanced spell checking,document scanning and Internet tools, toname but a few.2.After a moment, a dialog box will promptyou for your serial number. Enter yourserial number and click OK. Your serialnumber is displayed on the DVD Cover.The Read&Write 10 Setup Menu dialogbox is now displayed. Click on Install Now. You can use the Up ( ) and Down ( )keys on your keyboard to change thevoice speed during playback.You can also read text within OpenOfficeWriter (3.0) using dual color highlighting.To read text using the toolbar:The system reads the text aloud. Youcan click on either of the followingbuttons at any stage:1. Click thedrop down list, and selectRead by word, Read by sentence orRead by paragraph.2. Select the Automatically read next blockof text from this menu if you would like toset up the system to automatically readaloud the next word, sentence orparagraph. To disable this facility, selectthis option again.3. Click thedrop down list and selectScreenshot to MS Word. To add the text to the MS Worddocument you are currently working with,click thedrop down list and selectScreenshot Reading Options. For example, you may have a textfile containing text relating to biochemistrywhich contains words that are not presentin the default Prediction file. If you add thistext, the Prediction facility will becomebetter equipped to provide you withpredictions relating to biochemistry.6.2 Downloading word banksYou can download new prediction wordbanks and use them to enhance thePrediction facility.To create your own prediction files:1. Highlight the text you want to use to createa prediction file and then copy it to theclipboard.To download a word bank:1 5

A list ofthe prediction files currently available fordownload is displayed in the Downloadprediction word banks dialog box.If required, you can filter this list for aspecific topic. To do this, enter the topicyou want to search for in the Search forprediction word banks text box and thenclick Search.You can now select the word bank(s) youwant to download by:selecting the checkbox(es) beside theappropriate word bank(s)clicking the Select All button to select all ofthe available word banks.Click Download.1. To look up allword types, select the All radio button.conduct advanced dictionary functions anddisplays synonyms web definitions – lists meanings in theDictionary.com website.You can also use the Dictionary windowfor the following functions: replace the original word with a differentword. To do this, click on one of themeanings displayed in the DictionaryMeanings list box, then click on a wordin the Inflections list box and then clickon Replace conduct a new dictionary search. To dothis, enter the new word in the OriginalWord text box and then click Search browse through the different wordsearches you have conducted using theBrowse buttons. When you close theDictionary window, the browse historywill clear.This chapter also helps you use the WordWizard.7.1 Finding basic definitionsTo find basic definitions:1. A list ofsynonyms is displayed in theSynonyms list box.You may need to narrow down a search ifthe word is used in many different ways.To do this:1. Read&Write 10 Goldlisted.Using the Dictionary 7.4 Using Word WizardYou can use the Word Wizard to: help you find words or phrases that youcannot remember search for words using opposites or otherrelationships. For example, if you searchusing the phrase 'parts of a car', the WordWizard will list words like throttle, tailpipeand fender.4.5.To use the Word Wizard:1. Highlight the word you want to look up.2. Click the6.7.button on the toolbar.Alternatively, click thedrop down listand select Word Wizard. You see the firstwindow in the Word Wizard.3. Select the appropriate radio button tospecify whether the word is a noun, verb,adjective, or adverb, and then click Next.2 0If it is obvious that the specified word isa certain type of word, for example, anoun, the first window is not displayed.You see the next window in the WordWizard.Select the synonyms list and meaningthat corresponds to the word you aresearching for and then click Next.Click on one of the Advanced Searchradio buttons depending on the type ofsearch you want to conduct, forexample, you can look for words thatare opposite to the words in thespecified synonym list.Click Next to continue.Click on a word or phrase in theRelated Words or Phrases list box toview a list of related synonyms, i.e. clickon a word or phrase from the list on theleft.

Either highlight the word you want to checkand click thebutton on the toolbar, orAn example is shown in Figure 7-2.button and then enter theclick theword in the Verb Checker window.2. Click Next. The second stage in the VerbChecker is displayed.5. If required, you can hear a sentenceread aloud by placing the cursoranywhere within the sentence and thenclicking on thetoolbar.If your selected word is not a verb, theVerb Checker makes suggestions as to theword you may be looking for.
