Rising Third Grade Summer Math HomeworkIncluded in this Summer Math Packet you will find:*1 Math Packet cover page*5 math facts logs, 1 for each two weeks of summer*10 math facts timed practice pages, one for each week of summerDirections1. You must practice your math facts for 600 minutes over the summer—that’s just 1 hour aweek, which can be as little as ten minutes a day six days a week or 15 minutes a day just fourdays a week. This practice time should be used to learn, practice, and review yourmultiplication facts. Third graders are required to know their multiplication facts up to the 12.Once you’ve learned these, or if you already know them, you should use this time to learn, practice, and review multiplication facts up to 20. You will be logging the time spent practicingyour math facts on a math facts log. You log should include the date you practiced, the timeyou spent practicing, and the way you practiced. Some examples of ways you can practice yourmath facts include:*Use flashcards, either store bought or home-made*Sing along to “Math Rock” or other multiplication songs (can be found online on YouTube)*Roll some dice and challenge your friends/siblings to be the first to correctly multiply theresults; the more sides on a dice, the larger you can practice*Use household items (such as cheerios or dominos) to create and solve multiplicationproblems*Jump rope and for each jump say the next multiple (“1X5 is 5, 2x5 is 10, 3x5 is 15,” etc)*Find an app or online game to practice (some links can be found on summer website)2. Once a week, have someone time you for three minutes to complete one math facts timedpractice. (Do not count this time on your log.) In those three minutes, complete as many of themultiplication problems as you can. After the time is up, have an adult help you check yourpractice and score yourself (total correct out of total attempted).3. Decorate the cover page and then staple all your pages together.4. Turn in this completed packet with your completed Summer Reading homework.
