COURSE INFORMATION1.1 GENERALThe Directorate General of Training (DGT) under Ministry of Skill Development &Entrepreneurship offers a range of vocational training courses catering to the need of differentsectors of the economy/ labour market. The vocational training programs of short term durationare intended for up skilling of NTC/ NAC pass out candidates. After passing out of the course, thetrainee is awarded a competency based certificate approved by DGT.The main objective of this Short term course is to enable man power in Aari and ZardosiEmbroidery. This course has been framed to study the Aari and Zardosi embroidery using differentkinds of Aari embroidery stitches & effects such as Filling Stitches, Zari thread work, French Knot,Honey Comb, Stitches with mirrors, beads, Full and Half tubes, Patch Work, Cut work, Rope Work,etc. as well as uses decorative stones to fix for embellishments. AARI & ZARDOSI EMBROIDERYa) The Continuous Assessment (Internal) during the period of training will be done byFormative Assessment Method by testing for assessment criteria listed against learningoutcomes. The training institute has to maintain an individual trainee portfolio as detailedin assessment guideline.b) The pattern and marking structure is being notified by DGT from time to time. Thelearning outcome and assessment criteria will be the basis for setting question papers forfinal assessment.c) Assessment will be evidence based comprising the following: Job carried out in labs/workshop/Field Answer sheet of assessment Viva-voce Participation and punctualityEvidences of internal assessments are to be preserved until forthcoming Block examinationfor audit and verification by examining body.d) The minimum pass percentage for skill test is 60%.2

JOB ROLEBrief description of Job roles:Hand embroiderer who knows Aari and Zardosi Embroidery is responsible for creating design alongwith the tracings done on to the fabric. He /She uses variety of techniques to create different kindsof embroidery stitches & effects such as Filling Stitches, Zari thread work, French Knot, HoneyComb, Stitches with mirrors, beads, Full and Half tubes, Patch Work, Cut work, Rope Work, etc. aswell as uses decorative stones to fix for embellishments. The job requires the persons to have theskills to make a variety of attractive designs using Aari/Zardosi/Zariembroidery.Hand Embroiderer, Zari; Zari Worker; Zardozi Worker sews ornamental designs by hand overstamped or stenciled patterns on fabric, using special embroidery material (zari) such as kora,kangani, sadi, nakshi, beads, tikli, sitare, etc. Stitches 'baithan' (cloth which forms base) to stringloops of 'Karchob' or 'adda' (embroidery frame), adjusts 'Karchob' so that 'baithan' is evenly tauton all sides. Stitches, cotton, wool or silk fabric to work on 'baithan' in frame. Stencil design to beembroidered on fabric. Cuts zari material into pieces of required size with scissors. Threads needlewith yarn and stitches neatly 'zari' pieces and beads etc., of proper size, colour and kind overstencilled design on fabric to make required pattern.
