AssemblyWARNINGDo not plug in your deep cleaner until you are familiar with all instructionsand operating procedures.Your deep cleaner comes in 5easy-assemble components.The only tool you will need to assembleyour deep cleaner is a Phillips screwdriver.-Upper Handle-4 Screws Taped to Handle-Deep Cleaner Base-Tool Caddy-2 Hex Nuts12121-From the flat side of the Tool Caddy, feedthe power cord through the rounded-rectangle opening.First, slide the Upper Handle on to the base.2-Next, align the Tool Caddy with the UpperHandle holes.3422-Insert 2 screws intolower 2 holes locatedjust above the LowerHose Rack. Turn thescrews until tightened.11- Place hex nut into back of Tool Caddy and hold inplace. Insert bolt from the front to the back, turning thebolt into the hex nut until snug. Do not over tighten.Repeat for the second bolt and hex nut.6www.BISSELL.comAttach tools to the end ofthe hose or front of theupper handle. Wrap thepower cord and hose.

As you clean,the clean water in the bladder will empty and mixwith the cleaning formula. Dirty water will be pulledout of your carpets and collect around the outsideof the bladder so that clean and dirty water arealways kept separate. This allows you to maximizetank space, yet only carry one tank to and from thesink for filling and emptying.3ReadyTools Dial4This dial switches your machine between floorcleaning and hose/tool cleaning.Flow Indicator34 This is located on the machine base. Plan activities to give your carpet time to dry. Move furniture to another area if cleaning an entire room (optional). Thoroughly vacuum area with a dry vacuum cleaner before deep cleaning. Plan your cleaning route to leave an exit path. It is best to begin cleaning inthe corner farthest from your exit. PretreatPretreating your carpet is recommended to improve cleaning effectivenessfor heavily soiled carpet in high traffic areas such as entryways and hallways.a. Spray the BISSELL Stain PreTreat formula onto heavy traffic areas,soiled areas, or stains.b. Allow to penetrate for at least 3 minutes.c. ATTENTION: To prevent damage to Berber carpets, avoid repeated strokes inthe same area.Preparing Your MachineFill the 2-in-1 Tank with Water1First, press the recline pedal to lay downthe machine handle. Lift the 2-in-1 tankfrom the base of the machine using thecarry handle on the tank.1-Carry the tank to the sink. Set the tankon a flat surface and rotate the handleto unlatch and remove the lid. Fill up thebladder with hot tap water (140⁰F/60⁰CMAX). *Do not boil or microwave thewater as it can destroy the bladder.22-Optional: Add 2 ounces of BISSELLBoost formula to the bladder.3-Return the tank lid by matching it to thetank edges. The tank handle must be inthe forward position in order to set the lidin place. Preparing Your MachineFill the Formula Tank with Formula12Fill the formula tank by firstunscrewing the cap and insert.a. Fill with water to the ‘water’line.b. Fill with formula to the ‘formula’ line.Turn the cap and screw ontightly to secure. Operations: Floor Cleaning12Set the Ready ToolsDial to Floor Cleaning.3Plug the power cord into aproperly grounded outlet.Press the Power Switch tothe “ON” position to turnon the machine.4While pressing the trigger, make one slow passforward and back to put water and formula down.Release the trigger and make one slow passforward and back over the same area to pick upthe water and formula that was just put down.Repeat cleaning passes until the liquid coming upappears clean. Continue passes without pressingthe trigger until you can’t see any more waterbeing pulled up.NOTE: Both the SmartMix formula tank and the 2-in-1 bladder need to haveliquid in them in order for the machine to spray. If one of the tanks are empty, themachine will not spray.-Caution: Do not overwet the carpet. Also take care not to run over looseobjects, edges of area rugs, or the cord.-Stalling the brush may result in premature belt failure.10www.BISSELL.com

Operations: Cleaning with Hose & AttachmentsNOTE: Your deep cleaner comes with a hose and at least one tool to attach forcleaning stairs, upholstery, and more.IMPORTANT : Check upholstery tags for any special care instructions. If possible,check for colored stuffing as it is possible the color could bleed through. Check forcolorfastness in a hidden area - maybe the back or underside of the furniture.123Be sure to vacuum thoroughly to pick up loosedebris and pet hair. Thehose and tool of thevacuum can help to getinto the fabric folds.Also plan activities toallow the upholstery todry.Fill the tanks accordingto pages 8 and 9 to prepare your machine.4Set the Ready Tools Dial tothe Tools setting. This willallow the machine to divertthe spray and suction tothe hose.Set the SmartMix Dial tothe Normal setting.5Attach the cleaning toolto the end of the hose.Plug in the power cord to agrounded outlet and pressthe Power Switch to ON.Press the trigger to spray solution on to the area you are cleaning. Slowly move the toolback and forth over the soiled surface. Release the trigger to suction up the soiled area.Work in small sections. Spray with only warm water to rinse the cleaned area (optional).Caution: Do not overwet the upholstery.When finished, rinse the hose and tool by suctioning warm water from a bowl. Allow thehose and tool to dry before storing the machine.WARNINGWARNING: To reduce the risk of injury, be extra careful when cleaning stairs. Rinsing Your Carpet (optional)1Rinsing is an optional step that can be done during the cleaning process by switching to the water rinse setting, or it can be done after the carpeted area has beencleaned.Choose the Water Rinse setting on the SmartMix dial, Be sure to rinse out yourtank if Boost was added in with your water. Use the Water Rinse setting with wateronly. Follow the same path as you did for cleaning, taking care to do a forward(wet) stroke by depressing the trigger, a backward (wet) stroke, and a forward andbackward (dry) stroke, releasing the trigger. Continue this until the water you seecoming up the nozzle is clear.Operations: Empty the 2-in-1 Tank121- Press the Power Switch to the OFF position. Remove the2-in-1 Tank from the base by lifting up with the tank’s CarryHandle.2- Carry the tank like a bucket to where you’ll dispose of thecollection water. Rotate the carry handle to unlatch the lid andempty the tank.After each use, remove andrinse the lint screen locatedon the tank lid.NOTE: You may notice hair & debris deposits on the carpet or in the tank thatwere loosened by the cleaning action (especially with new carpet that may neverhave been deep cleaned before). This debris should be picked up and thrownaway.To Continue Cleaning.121- Fill the 2-in-1 Tankagain, following theinstructions on pages 8and 9.2- Make sure the tank lid is secure and return the tank tothe machine. Maintenance: Machine StorageWARNINGTo reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, turn power OFF and disconnect plug fromelectrical outlet before performing maintenance or troubleshooting.1Once your cleaning is complete, make surethe water tank is emptied and rinsed out. Put theunit away in a closet or basement for the nextuse.NOTE: Store cleaner in a protected, dry area.Since this product uses water, it must not bestored where there is a danger of freezing.Freezing will damage internal components andvoid the warranty.Maintenance: Machine CareA few simple steps can assure your machine is well maintained after your cleaning is complete.1Turn power off and unplugthe machine. Always wrap thepower cord and make surethe hose is securely wrapped.42The final empty of the 2-in-1tank should always get anextra rinse-out. Rinse underand around the bladder aswell as the lint screen.3Clean the Flow Indicator filter after each use. Unscrewthe cap to lift the red rotorand white filter. Rinse allparts with water and returnthem to the machine. Twistthe cap back on, but do notover-tighten.Insert the Nozzle Clean OutTool into the thin slot, onthe end of the nozzle thattouches the floor. Clean untilfree of pet hair or debris.Use the opposite side of thetool to clean the brush rollsby combing the bristles tohelp loosen hair or debris.Nozzle and Brush Roll Cleaning Wipe the machine’s exteriorwith a soft cloth. Once yourcarpet is dry, vacuum againto remove any excess hair orfuzz on your carpet.www.BISSELL.com13

To check if the brushbelt or pump belt has broken, you willneed a flat head screwdriver. Insert theblade end into the lower slot of the beltaccess door to release the lower snap. Ifnecessary, insert the blade end into theupper slot to release the upper snap.Examine the belt for breakage.
