ourstoryWe met on a blind date 12 years ago. Ourfirst date was a blast and we never lookedback from that point on. We got marriedtwo years after meeting and have beenmarried for ten years now. Our relationshipis built on a similar sense of humor, valuedrelationships with our family, and a love ofGod. The past ten years have been someof the best years of our lives, not becauseeverything has been easy but because wehave learned how to communicate throughthe tough times and remain present in thefun ones.We enjoy traveling together around theUnited States learning about Americanhistory and visiting every museum andmonument along the way. Our familiesjoke with us about our joy and passion forhistory. We find purpose and joy in ourcommunity through partnering with thelocal children's hospital and with collegestudents at the local University. We waitedseven years before we had children,which was helpful for us to build a strongfoundation in our marriage. Once ourdaughter, Sadie, joined our lives we havenever been more fulfilled. She brings ustogether in a way we never experiencedprior to having kids, and we have lovedseeing each other grow into parenthood.We are grateful to have found one anotherand built a beautiful family together.

It was a glimpseinto the future of what a great motherand wife she would become. Shewas raised in a wonderful family andwe use that as a template for ourfamily. Sadieour home &communitySadie brings joy and laughter into ourhome. We are so thankful for her. Sheis the most expressive person you willever encounter. Those who know hercan't help but fall in love with her and herantics. She loves reading books, playingwith musical toys and going on swings.We think she holds ambitions to becomea singer one day. She knows almostevery word to every nursery rhymewritten. Sadie is a true lover of thosearound her. She will be the most lovingbig sister you could ask for. She lives herlife at her own pace and rhythm, whileinviting those around her to enjoy andlearn from her.Nothing makes us happier than being at hometogether as a family. Years ago, we found an olderhome in need of some love and we had the besttime bringing it back to life. We love spending timein our front yard, chatting with neighbors. You canoften find us playing at the park at the end of ourstreet. On the weekends we love going for familybike rides to local spots. We live within a few blocksof Sierra’s extended family. This keeps us enjoyinggrandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins on aregular basis. We have transformedinto better people because of her. Herhaving Down Syndrome has introducedus to a whole new world of possibilitiesand perspectives. Mostof us live within in a few blocks of each otherand can be found in each other’s homes andlives multiple days of the week. We love havingfamily dinners, going to sporting events forthe kids, playing pickleball, or do anythingtogether. Holidays are some our best times, welove passing down family traditions to the nextgeneration. My sisters are my best friends,and Aaron and I have incredible friendshipswith my siblings and their spouses. My parents,“Papa and Nanni”, are the glue that keeps ustogether. Papa shows up to every recital orgame the grandkids have, offering supportand guidance. Nanni is each of her grandkid'sfavorite person. She never hesitates to get onthe floor with them to build forts, bake cakes,or just snuggle with them at any time. We area lucky family to have so much fun together.Siblings and spouses funAaron and brothers-in-lawI'm the youngest of four kids, so it's safe tosay I was picked on consistently. Although,my siblings would tell you I always got whatI wanted. After my parents' divorce, mymom primarily raised us kids. We enjoyedspending weekends with my dad, whoattended all my basketball games throughmiddle and high school. My grandparents,aunts and uncles, and cousins all lived within45 minutes of each other. Our holidays werealways spent together along with all ourbirthday celebrations, and with a big familythat is a lot of birthdays! After graduatinghigh school, I developed an even closerfriendship with my siblings especially mybrother. We are all very close to this dayand enjoy raising our families together.Christmas Eve is our biggest family eventeach year with over 30 of us gettingtogether to celebrate the Holiday. Riggs is atrue shop dog and goes to Aaron’sretail store with him every day! Heis so playful and loving. He adoreschildren and is so gentle with Sadie.We are extremely lucky to have a diversegroup of friends we get to do life with.Some of my closest friendships startedin high school. I've also been a part ofa women’s group that meets weekly foralmost 15 years. This group of gals havehelped shape me into the wife, motherand friend I am today.Friends since high schoolAaron has great friendships with manymen in our neighborhood, including mysister’s husband who is also his businesspartner. Early in our marriage we werein a couples group and met some goodfriends from that. We have built ourfamilies together, learning from eachother along the way. Early in ourmarriage we both had felt drawnto adoption as means of havinga family and know that now isthe best time for us to act uponthat desire. Two of our nieces,whom we live across the streetfrom, are adopted and are in atransracial family. We love thatour future child will have themboth in his/her life to share storiesof adoption and being raised ina transracial family with. We findit a true honor and duty to ournew child to celebrate, advocateand cherish his/her culture andrace of origin. We are thankful tohave this opportunity through thebeauty of adoption.We have a mutuallove of Americanhistory and find alot of enjoymentin visiting historiccities and sites.about usWe love totravel!
