MACHINE STANDARDSThis chapter describes machine standards for machines sold in Europe (CE). Machinestandards for machines sold in the US comply with ANSI standards, also described in thischapter.CE RequirementsThe information in this section ascertains Hurco’s compliance with the EuropeanCommunity’s machine safety standards.As defined in the Foreword of the “prEN 12417 Machine Tools—Safety—MachiningCenters” document,“ This European standard has been prepared under a mandate givento CEN by the Commission of the European Communities and the Secretariat of theEuropean Free Trade Association, and supports the essential safety requirements of theMachinery Directive to determine safety for new machining centres.“This standard has been prepared to provide one means of conforming with the essentialrequirements of the Machinery Directive and associated EFTA regulations.“It was prepared by CEN/TC 143/WG4 – ‘Safety of Machining Centres’ under the directionof CEN Technical Committee 143 ‘Safety of Machine Tools.’ ”European Directives and StandardsHurco machining centers installed in Europe must conform to the directives andstandards accepted by the European community.
