About DeutschAbout DeutschDeutsch takes pride in the development of reliable products for use in harsh environment conditions. Since its creation in1938, Deutsch Corporation’s innovative solutions have contributed greatly to the success of major equipment programs.Deutsch has always been a leader in product innovations. A few of the earliest Deutsch firsts include:1955- Environment resistant “miniature” connector1956- Push-pull quick disconnect coupling system1957- Injection molding of neoprene inserts1959- Insertable/removable crimp type contacts1959- Hermetically sealed single compression glass insert1960- Cold headed contacts1961- Size 22, subminiature closed entry socket contact1970- Liquid molding of silicone1972- Individual contact release retention system for size22 contacts1984- Composite cylindrical connector shellsDeutsch Industrial was founded in 1969 to serve the industrial and heavy duty markets with a wide variety of electricalconnectors. Deutsch is a key player in building connector systems and components for high performance machinery suchas off-road equipment, tractors and agricultural machinery, the heavy duty truck market, and several types of recreationalequipment such as boats, motorcycles, and RVs.In the1960’s Deutsch was a pioneer in quality control, and it still holds true today with Deutsch taking all thenecessary steps to assure that each of its products consistently meet or exceed customer expectations. Workingin close collaboration with its customers’ research anddevelopment departments, Deutsch provides solutionsfor many technological challenges.Circling the globe, from California to Tennessee, fromFrance and the United Kingdom to Spain and Italy, fromIndia to China, Deutsch is here for its customers. This vitallink between Deutsch and its customer base is essential indeveloping tomorrow’s connecting technology.2ASTEPAHEAD

Features & BenefitsFeatures & BenefitsDeutsch connectors are ideal where dust, dirt, moisture, salt spray, and vibration can contaminate or damage electrical connections. Deutsch Features Deutsch Benefits Common contacts- a small number of contactsterminates multiple Deutsch connectors. Easy to use Maximum current rating- majority of the contactsdo not require a derating curve to determineproper application. Minimized warranty claims Added customer value Lower tooling costsCommon tooling- hand crimp tools, automatedor semi-automated tooling are available for solidor stamped & formed contacts. Minimized electrical failures Eliminate mismating Environmental seal- will handle extreme applications. Reduced assembly time Gas tight crimp terminations- when properlycrimped, provide a gas tight crimp which ishighly resistant to increases in resistance as aresult of temperature and oxidation. Simplified field service Decreased down time Reduced repair time Increased product confidence Reduced repair expense Lower inventory cost Increased reliability High performance molded shells- impact resistantand fire retardant. Redundant silicone seals- many connectorsfeature integral components that reduce wiretermination assembly time and cost. Hand insertable/removable contacts- no specialcontact insertion tools and simplified service. Keying options- prevents mismating in multipleconnector applications. No contact retention “tangs.” Extended wire sealing ranges.3ASTEPAHEAD

Introduction to ConnectorsIntroduction toConnectorsDeutsch Industrial has been providing high-quality environmentally sealed electrical connectors for harsh environmentsfor more than 40 years. Developed with simplicity of design and ease of use in mind, Deutsch connectors offer a varietyof innovative solutions to suit any application. Whether it’s for a new application or a retrofit, using a Deutsch connectorprovides simplified design and wiring, fewer warranty claims, and easy field repairs.Deutsch’s rugged all-metal bodies and corrosion resistantthermoplastic shells are manufactured from high quality materials selected for their ability to withstand yearsof environmental exposure. Deutsch connectors areavailable in rectangular and cylindrical body shapes andfeature: Rugged, durable housingoptions include metal andthermoplasticWide operating temperature rangeSecure locking mechanismsPositive contact retention systemBecause Deutsch connectors are designed to mate securely with minimal force, assembly time is reduced andfield service is easy. The high-performance molded shellsare shock and vibration resistant, and field proven forlong service life.Deutsch silicone seals and grommets fit tightly around thewire insulation and at the connector interface to provideredundant barriers to contamination. In order to create areliable environmental seal and ensure continuity of flow,Deutsch seals:Silicone seal at connectorinterface preventscontamination Are resistant to most common industrial andengine fluids Retain their flexibility across a wide temperaturerange Never require potting or dielectric greaseWith integrated seals that are designed to work with multiplewire gauges, Deutsch connectors simplify design and inventory management, and provide exceptional performance incritical environments.4ASTEPAHEAD

Introduction to ConnectorsThe Deutsch Industrial Common Contact System is aunique system of interchangeable and intermateablecontacts that can be used in many Deustch Industrialconnectors. Contacts are available in solid or stamped& formed styles, with plating options including gold, nickel, and tin. Easy-to-use indent crimpers create a gastight crimp that is resistant to oxidation. This high-qualitycrimp allows Deutsch contacts to provide reliable, lowresistance power and data transmission.Cross section of stamped &formed and solid gas tightcontact crimpsWith the wide variety of Deutsch connectors available, it is the consistency of design among the connector series thatstreamlines production and field service. Deutsch connectors share several common elements that simplify assembly: Integral wire seals and grommetsClearly marked contact positionsCommon contacts and toolingIndexed connector bodies to prevent mis-matingSince most Deutsch series use the same processes, contacts, and tooling, time spent training is reduced and production isstreamlined and simplified. This consistency in production creates a higher quality end product with less down time andfewer warranty claims. No matter the environment, Deutsch Industrial connectors provide the innovative solutions demanded by harsh conditions.Deutsch Industrial’s dedication to quality and innovation has created a unique system of easy-to-use connectors to simplifyyour processes from start to finish.Deutsch FeaturesCommon ContactsCommon ToolingCommon ProcessDeutsch Connectors Feature: Air tight crimp termination High performance molded shellsAssembly Features Redundant silicone sealsPlug & play“Blind” matingKeying options Hand insertable/removable contacts5ASTEPAHEAD
