PCOA Programs and ServicesCareGiver Training Institute Fills Essential Community NeedSince the CareGiver Training Institute (CGTI)joined PCOA in April 2020, we have workedtogether to ensure that aspiring healthcareworkers have safe access to high-qualitytraining programs to support our communitythrough the pandemic and beyond. CGTI hasbeen providing excellent educational programsin Tucson for nearly 20 years, and has trainedthousands of certified nursing assistants, certified caregivers, and assisted livingmanagers.Caregivers and nursing assistants work ina variety of healthcare settings to providequalified care for our friends, family membersand neighbors as they recover, live with adebilitating condition, or need increasedassistance as they age.The need for trained caregivers is more urgentthan ever. Our community already hadsignificant shortages in frontline healthcareworkers prior to the pandemic, and withArizona’s soaring numbers of COVID cases, thedemand is rapidly growing. As need expands, workers are falling ill, need to take time offto care for ill family members, or are leavingthe field.Recognizing the urgency of continuing to trainnew healthcare workers, we have been offeringa hybrid online and in-person learning modelsince May, which requires the least in-personexposure possible. Hands-on skills learning, practice and testing are required by ourlicensing bodies. Our training includesreal-life practice with the personal protectiveequipment (PPE), hand hygiene anddisinfecting protocols that will keep bothour students and those they care for safe.At CGTI, our training prepares students forthe healthcare workforce they are about to join.CGTI offers a certified training and understandsthe ever-evolving challenges facing theindustry.Pima
