INSTALLATION GUIDE Pump is suitable for use with fresh and salt water applications. The pump can be used for portable or permanent applicationsPortable Applications1. Prior to immersing the pump in waterdetermine the depth of water for thelength of hose required.1Note: Calculate overall hose length topump to the desired location22. Attach a ø29mm hose (ø25mm min.hose recommended) (not supplied) tothe discharge outlet and fasten with astainless steel clamp (not supplied). Itis recommended that you use a goodquality hose that will not kink whenmaking sharp bends.3453 Determine the desired location for thepump. It is best located where the wateris potentially deepest, ie., at the lowestpossible level of the area to be drainedAUXILIARY CABLE6.12V DC Plug7.On/Off Switch8.Power Cord Connector4. Ensure that the hose is positioned ina way that runs level or continuouslyupward. This will eliminate the chance ofair pockets developing.Note: Restricting the flow from the pump byusing a smaller hose does not damage thepump however, it will reduce the flow.678ONLINE MANUALScan this QR Code with yourmobile device to take you tothe online manual.

2. WIRINGWiringPermanent Applications1. Determine the desired location and position for the pump. Refer“Portable Applications”.2. Remove the strainer from thebottom of the pump by depressingthe strainer tabs, on both sides ofthe pump. T he submersible pump comessupplied with an auxiliarycable. The 12V DC plug onthe auxiliary cable enablesthe pump to be powered froma standard 12V power outletfound in cars, boats and somegenerators. T he power cord of thesubmersible pump also comeswith power cord connectors onboth the pump cord and theauxiliary cable. This enablesthe wires to be connectedquickly and accurately with lesschance of a need for strippingor cutting. If attaching the strainer towood, fasten with stainlesssteel screws. If attaching the strainer tometal or fibreglass, firstmount a wooden block tothe surface, and then fastenthe strainer to the woodenblock.3. Mount the pump on the strainer sothat both lock tabs snap into place.(the pump may be reversed on thesetabs if so desired).4. Attach hose. Refer “Portable Applications”CAUTION: THE STRAINER MUST ALWAYS BEPROPERLY INSTALLED BEFORE ATTACHING ANDRUNNING PUMP. T he auxiliary cable has a ON/OFF switch which can beused to manually control thesubmersible pump.IMPORTANT!: ENSURE THAT ALL ELECTRICAL WIRINGIS SECURED IN PLACE WITH THE CONNECTIONS WELLABOVE THE POTENTIAL WATER LEVEL.

TROUBLE SHOOTINGThe two wiring diagrams below show how to set up the submersiblepump without a float switch (manual operation) and with a floatswitch (automatic operation).Wiring for Manual OperationThe manual system is the simplest system but it only provides ONOFF control of the pump. Consequently, pumps are often left ONlonger than necessary.SymptomPossibleCauseCurePump notworkingBlown fuseReplace fuse in 12V DC PlugReducedFlowBlocked strainerClean outside of strainer and cleandebris from around impeller.Discharge linecloggedClean out hose by back flushing.Low batteryvoltageCheck battery condition and charge ifnecessary.Kinkeddischarge hoseChange to a hose that does not kink atthe bends.WireconnectionsMake sure wire connections are notcorroded. Check to be sure no wire joinsare hanging down into the water.Float switchfailure. (ifconnected).Lift end of float switch up - if pump runs, switch is OK. If pump does not run, turnmanual switch to on position - if pumpruns, automatic switch has failed.Somethingunder the float(if connected)Clean under the float to make suredebris is not holding the float up.Stuck float (ifconnected).Check to see that the float is loosemoves freely. If float action appearssluggish and/or the float does notmove freely, intermittent or sporadicoperation of the pump may occur. Thiscondition is usually the result of oil and/or dirt accumulating in and around themovable parts of the switch. To correct, clean the switch, checking for smoothand free operation of the float. Repeat ifnecessaryIMPORTANT.Switch mountedtoo lowIf the pump is sucking air and theautomatic switch has not reached theOFF position, then the switch may bemounted too low for the pump andshould be reinstalled at least 6mm higherthan the pump base.12VSUBERSIBLEPUMPIN LINESWITCH12V DCPLUGMOLDEDCONNECTORSWiring forAutomatic OperationFor automatic operation,a float switch (available fromspecialized outlets) can beinstalled. A float switch detectsthe rising level of water andturns on the submersiblepump. The pump then pumpsthe water out until its levelhas been substantially reduced, at which point the pump is switchedoff again. The automatic system assures that the area is alwayspumped out, even when unattended. It extends the life of the pumpand your battery. The automatic system also provides for manual control of the pump,as it includes an ON/OFF SIN LINESWITCHNo waterpumpedPump won’tshut off.12V DCPLUGMOLDEDCONNECTORSNote: When not using the supplied auxiliary cable (ie. when settingup a fixed installation), it is recommended that you use a 10 Ampfuse and a 12V/10 Amp power supply.12VSUBERSIBLEPUMPSBP-012
