Please feel free to call or email: Mrs. Keith/Career Counselor, regarding the elective careeropportunities.th Mr. Lydia/9 Grade Counselor, regarding academic coreselection (Pre-AP, AP, etc.). Beth Hughes/IB Diploma Program Coordinator regarding the IBDiploma and/or Certificate Programs.Parents and guardians--we realize that high school four yearplanning can be overwhelming as your student tries to consider ALLof his/her academic and elective options. Currently, the 4 x 4 is inplace requiring students to graduate with 4 of each core subject(Math, Science, English, Social Studies). Therefore, for this section, students only need to select the level of the core classes they wishto take (Pre-AP, AP, etc.).Since half of their plan (the core) is already mandated for them, most of their analysis should be spent on the elective section oftheir plan. We want you to know that Denton ISD provides studentswith one of the largest elective course selections in the state ofTexas, especially regarding career opportunities at their homecampus and the Advanced Technology Complex.Mrs. McEuin will be missed by all at DHSPALS students are conducting “Give Back theChange” drive that began Friday, 4/26. Studentsare asked for donations ofpocket change to help pay for abench to honor Mrs. McEuin.PALS hopes to raise at least 1000 to pay for a bench and amemorial plaque in honor ofMrs. McEuin. Monetarycontributions are welcome(contact Mr. Tim es/20130331-dorothea-dottie-gail-mceuin.eceThe goal of this activity is for students to create a plan that they mayactually use as a guideline for their course selections from year toyear, a plan that will allow them to sample meaningful electiveswhich assist them in narrowing down their college and career goalsprior to selecting a post-secondary institution, college major, orcareer. Please know that their plan is: NOT set in stone NOT theircourse request ONLY a guideline that can be altered in the futureSo, while we do want these to be as accurate as possible, we do notintend for anyone to stress out over it. Again, call the contactsmentioned above as necessary. Their information is below. We are very excited about being able to offer this computerizedopportunity to our students! We look forward to working with youon this process!thChris Lydia, 9 grade Counselor, 940-369-2012Kimberly Keith, M. Ed, 9th grade Counselor, 940-369-2020Beth Hughes, IB DP Coordinator, 940-369-2238
