Volume XXXVIII, June 2015James Snyder, EditorWindy City Z Club OfficersTHE PRESIDENT SEZTy Ozgen, PresidentI cannot believe it is finally over!We have been working on the 2015Midwest Z Heritage Show for almosta year and now it is all just a memory. Unbelievable!I’ll be honest though, this one was stressful. This isthe third time we have been the host for this event andby far this one just seemed more difficult and I’m notsure why. Jeff and I were cleaning up the hospitalityroom on Sunday and even he agreed. It may have beenthe issues with the registration, perhaps all the lastminute details with the insurance for the event, theweather or all the last minute cancellations andregistrations. But you know what? In the end, I thinkwe threw one great party. For those who missed it, Ihope there was a goodreason. We had guestsfrom all over the Midwest, even Ontario, Canada. When people say thankyou for hosting a niceevent, it makes it all worthwhile. So I want to thankall the volunteers whomade this a success. Itreally was a group effort. The weather gods werenice to us as well. Wehave been getting a lot ofrain as you know and aweek prior to the event, thePhoto by James Snyderforecast for rain was 99%.The Suds and Shine on Friday was just cold. We wereall outside, hanging by the parking lot full of Zs andthere was a chill in the air. It drizzled in the afternoonbut was done by evening. I think I spilled more beerfrom my cup from my hand trembling than I drank. When I got home that night, I even turned on the heat inthe house. I was that cold .down to the bone. Theday of the show was rain free, at least the part thatwww.windycityzclub.comPresident – Ty Ozgen 630.910.3616VP of Activities – Jeff Pleiter 630.832.7857VP of Administration – Pat Sylvester 847.895.6939Secretary/Membership – Sue Chan 630.379.6917Treasurer – Bill Bragg 262.697.1779Newsletter – James Snyder wczc.editor@gmail.comWebmeister – Glenn Johnson 630.363.2081counted. I woke up to a partly sunny day and that washow it was for the entire show. The PromenadeBolingbrook is such a nice place for this event. Againwe parked in the center of it all, with tons of spectatorsjust checking out the rows of beautiful Z’s. I broughtmy 1980 Tenth Anniversary to the event. I was unableto clean it like I wanted to but it still showed nice. I doowe my Z friends an apology though. I like to minglewith the crowd, looking at all the nice Z’s and talkingwith everyone but I just didnot have the time. I was nottrying to ignore anyone butlike I said, I was a bit stressed. You know what though, everything worked out, it didnot rain, and people had fun.The banquet was anotherstory, it poured outside. Ithink everyone enjoyed thefood as well as the hospitality. We had plenty of raffle prizesand it seemed everyone wenthome with something. EvenMad Mike was present in hisusual form. He of course gavea talk during the banquet and it was quite touchinghow he talked about the late Mr K. and his friendshipwith him. He actually has a soft side. Thanks Mike. Please visit the WCZC website for some greatpictures of our event. Again I want to thank all thevolunteers for their hard work as well as all of oursponsors for their generosity. See you at the nextevent. TyVolume XXXVIII, June 2015page 1

Jeff Pleiter, V.P of ActivitiesThe Midwest Heritage Z Show was byall accounts a great success. We had about65 cars, and about 100 or so attendees at theawards dinner. It was a lot of work, withonly a few minor hiccups. The weather was off and onwith rain, chilly on Friday, but was near perfect duringSaturday’s show at the Promenade Mall.As a special guest we had “Mad” Mike Taylor, founder and past President of the ZCCA say a fewwords as has become traditional at Z events. This washis first time in Chicago for the event. He is famousfor his Don Rickles style comments and poked somegood fun at our Canadian attendees and a couple of theyoung lads who attended. Mike also read the card/notefrom Mr. Ks wife, thanking the Z Clubs for theircondolences and provided one of the cards for theWCZC archives.Mike was a close personal friend of Mr. K for over20 years and it showed during his moving talk aboutMr. K and the remembrance in Japan. We are off the hook for the next few years as theshow will rotate to Columbus, Ohio next year and tothe new Great Lakes Club the following year. Despitecleaning and detailing my car on the weekendfollowing the event, I still managed to get 3rd Place in2nd Generation stock. Ty has the full list of trophywinners.Upcoming Events:June 27th. Nissan ChiefCreative Office Shiro Nakamura recently revealed thatone idea for the next-generation Z could see it movedown market, closer to the original 240Z or the 1999Concept Z. "We are studying a couple of differentconcepts. Because the sports car market is becomingsmaller globally," said Nakamura, "We would like todo something, I personally think, is more [in the]original concept of Z, which is . more practical andappealing to younger customers." As for timing, wecouldn't get any specifics. And the chances of the Zmoving down market aren't even certain. "We still needtime to finalize this," said the Nissan chief designer, "Imean, we have a couple of ideas." Source:Autoblog.comSounds like Nissan is still at the drawing board.
