Lunch-N-LearnNELSON COLMAN JEWELERS PRESENTSTHE APPRAISAL CHALLENGEThis event is designed to enlighten the guests and raiseawareness about jewelry and gem stone retail values andreplacement costs in an entertaining and fun way.The guests are expected to experience the painful buttrue fact that, in spite of their love of jewelry, theirexperience with jewelry, or their depth of knowledge andeducation about jewelry, they might not know all there isto know. The goal of this fun exercise is to reinforce thewisdom of relying upon a trained expert to help protecttheir important pieces and the importance and wisdomof insuring these family heirlooms with professionallyproduced insurance appraisals. The Appraisal Challenge will be conducted by a GIA(Gemological Institute of America) trained representativefrom Nelson Coleman Jewelers, an AGS (American GemSociety) Certified Jeweler.Nelson Coleman Jewelers is a sixth generation, familyowned and operated retail jeweler located on JoppaRoad in Towson, member of Jewelers of America’s 100Year Club, celebrating their 158th year in continuousoperation. Here’s how it works:Nelson Coleman will bring 10 different jewelry itemswithout any price, identification, or description, for theguests to examine. Each item will have a numberedstring tag attached. The jewelry will range from costumepieces, antique pieces, and important pieces; diamonds, cubic zirconium, natural and lab grown gems, and everything in between. Each guest will be asked to attempt todescribe and evaluate each piece of jewelry. While the jewelry items are being circulated amongst theguests, Nelson Coleman’s representative will give a talkWednesday, December 10th12:00-1:00pmTowson Chamber of CommerceBuilding - 44 W. Chesapeake Ave.on current events in the jewelry industry. We will touch onsubjects like the care and treatment of your jewelry, gemstone enhancements, lab grown gems, the state of the artin jewelry design, and the social, political, and environmental issues facing the jewelry industry today includingConflict Diamonds and the industry’s and United Nation’sefforts to address these important issues. The guests will enjoy examining this jewelry and they willbe amazed at how difficult it might be to determine genuine or natural from manmade and the different values. Theguests will also be amazed and entertained by the differentopinions about each piece. Nobody will be embarrassed;everyone will have fun and be enlightened. At the conclusion, Nelson Coleman will collect each sheetand place them in a bag. One sheet will be drawn and thatguest will be the winner of a free 3 item insurance appraisal,a 205 value at Nelson Coleman Jewelers. Each attendeewill also receive literature from the American Gem Societyabout the care and treatment of his/her jewelry and aboutthe importance of protecting and insuring jewelry.6
