SPRING TECH SESSIONAPRIL 3, 2016

Tech Team NewsDue to the limited availability of the Snell SA2015 Helmets, The Chicago Region will be following the leadof PCA Club Racing and extend the expiration of the Snell SA2005 helmets to January 1st, 2017.Even so, the Snell Foundation recommends that helmets be replaced every five years, and drivers withSnell SA2005 helmets should take that into consideration when deciding if they should purchase one ofthe many Snell SA2015 helmets available now or as the one they want becomes available, or change to ahelmet of a different manufacturer or model which is available. If you have already purchased a new helmet, Tech would like to ask you to donate your old helmet to beused as a “Loaner” for our AutoCross and Drivers Ed events.I’d like to thank everyone that came out last year to help out in the Tech Line, especially those whocame out to help even though they were not driving at that event. If you would like to join the 2016 Tech Team or would like to be added to the Tech Team email list, please contact me at pca.chicago.tech@gmail or give me a call at 630-476-2267. No experience isnecessary, we are willing to train, and it is a great place to meet the members and learn about the cars.WANTED:If you would like to be a host or of if you have any ideas of what you would like to see at one of our TechSessions, please let me know.I’d also like to hold another Chicago Region Swap Meet for those of us that have a garage full of partsthat are looking for a new home. If anyone is interested in providing a location for us, please contact me.Spring Tech SessionA BIG Thank You to John and Jeannie Ruther and the Northstar Motorsports staff for hosting our annualSpring Tech Session. While John gave us the latest news on the Snell 2015 helmets and the other newitems available for 2016, Jeannie provided us with lunch, desserts, and refreshments. I would also like tomention that John donated all the Registration proceeds to the Chicago Region Charity.Tech Team members Dennis Costis and Christian Muehlich were in charge of Registration, while GlennDeWeirdt and John Westra gave a demonstration/explanation of what happens when you bring yourvehicle through the Tech Line. And, our own Jeff Brown was there to capture everything on camera.brakes, Brakes, BRAKES!Your car’s brakes, in conjunction with the tires, are the MOST important components when you’redriving at the track. A proper brake flush, along with adequate brake pads, are critical to your vehicle’sbraking system. Always bring along spare brake pads and fluid, for back up. When you take your car infor service, please take a copy of the DE Tech Sheet along and explain that it needs to be done properly. Our requirements have been compiled through years of experience and are there for YOUR safety. Please remember that you, the driver, are responsible for the condition and safety of your car.Pete FaehnrichDE Tech cell
