It utilizes the same drive andcontrol systems as a LU/LA (limited use, limited application) commercial elevator. A LU/LA elevator is apower passenger elevator. The use of these productsis limited by local regulations, which can vary fromplace to place.Your Elvoron Stella elevator will quickly become partof everyday movement within your home. Designyour elevator car using a variety of attractive anddurable wall and ceiling finishes. All Elvoron Stellacars are supplied with basic plywood floors ready forinstallation of your preferred flooring material, assupplied by others.The definition of a LU/LA elevator is one that is limited by size, capacity, speed and rise. The ElvoronLU/LA elevator provides a code compliant automaticelevator with a variety of platform configurations andcan service up to 6 landings. The wide selection ofcab finishes and options ensure that it will blend intoany setting.Car WallsCar walls are covered in wood veneer or plasticlaminate panel sections. Available wood veneerspecies include maple, red oak, cherry, mahogany,birch, walnut, hickory, makore and bamboo. Eightstandard colors of plastic laminate are offerred, andany exisiting plastic laminate can be accomodated.What are the limitations of an Elvoron Stella? Travel – 32 feet (9.75 m) with 1400 lb. (635 kg)capacity, 36 feet (10.9 m) with 1000 lb. Thewall behind the cylinder and guide rails must be loadbearing and able to withstand the loads imposed bythe elevator.capacity, size of cab and travel height. Please seefinal elevator shop drawings for actual locations.All the walls of the hoistway, especially the wall behindthe rails and the entrance walls, need to be flush andplumb from floor to ceiling to within /- 1/8”. This isto allow for the required running clearances.The cylinder and guide rails are mounted to the wallwith steel brackets. These rail brackets are fastenedto the load bearing wall at regular intervals.No light is required at the top of the hoistway as thecar top is equipped with a standard caged light fixturefor use by the mechanic during his maintenancevisits. A light is required in the pit (see Constructionof Pit for details).The rail bracket spacing is determined during thedesign phase. Consult your Garaventa Liftrepresentative for details as changes to finishedhoistway are required.The pit must be the same width and length as thehoistway. The majority of the weight of the lift isborne by the plunger (ram). Reactions are indicatedon each project’s shop drawings. A minimum 14”(355 mm) pit is required.Pit LightingA pit light and GFI duplex receptacle, supplied by theGeneral Contractor, are required in the pit of yourElvoron Stella for use by the mechanic during hismaintenance visit. Consult Garaventa Lift dealer forlocation and routing of conduit.Overhead Clearance (Refuge Space)135” (3429mm) is required above the upper landinglevel finished floor to the ceiling above to meetthe refuge space required by code. On existingconstruction, a car top prop can be used to reducethe overhead to 114” (2997mm). The doors have an hour and a half fire rating.The car doors are finished to match your car wall trimand the entrance doors are primed and ready to bepainted to match your building décor. Thedimensions of the pump unit are 30” wide x 19 ½”deep x 66 ¼” high (762 x 495 x 1683 mm).The controller pump assembly can be located up to25’ (7.6 m) from the hydraulic jack.In order to meet the code requirements, thehydraulic pump unit, GFI duplex receptacle andfused disconnect switches (elevator lighting) must belocated in a dedicated machine room with a minimumoverhead of 7’ (2134 mm). Adequate working spacein the machine room includes, clearance in front ofthe pump unit and the proper location of the lightswitch and disconnect switches. This is to enablethe installers to make the connection between thecylinder and the pumping unit. The sleeves shouldenter the hoistway at either corner of the supportwall.The fused disconnect switch rating and fuse rating forthe lift will be shown on the shop drawings for yourproject.At least one GFCI duplex receptacle connected to a 15amp branch circuit shall be installed in the machineroom.Ventilation Requirements:No special requirements. The elevator drive unitwill generate approximately 3200 BTU per hourunder normal operating conditions. Recommendedtemperature for elevator equipment is 50º – 90º F(15º – 32º C) and 5% – 90% non-condensing.Contact your local authorized Garaventa Liftrepresentative for code specific requirementsand further details.Lighting:The machine room must be provided with at least100 lx lighting over the pumping unit and disconnectswitches.Mains Power RequirementsThe standard motor on the pump unit is 5 HP and itcan be ordered to suit either three phase or singlephase power.Standard: 230 VAC Single phase 40 ampsOptional: 208 VAC Three phase 30 ampsEmergency Battery LoweringIn case of a power outage the elevator is providedwith a second power source that allows the car to belowered to the lowest landing. While descending, thecar can stop and the passenger can exit the car onany landing along the way.Electrical Disconnects:In the machine room you will need to provide twolockable fused disconnects – one 15 amp for lightingand one 40 amp for the pumping unit. Disconnectswitches should be located on the strike (lock) side ofthe machine room door.
