Chapter 1. IntroductionThe Accounting Workstation Option is a Microsoft Windows-based application thatcan process data from various chargeback, project management, time tracking andbudget applications. It has query and drill-down tools for analytical functions suchas allocation, trending, forecasting, profit and loss, budget versus actual, unitcosting, revenue recovery and more. You can use these tools to create aconsolidated view of all IT expense data, and compare budgeted costs with actualand recovered costs.The Accounting Workstation Option can exchange data with most conventional PCspreadsheet and database programs, such as Microsoft Excel, Lotus , MicrosoftAccess, Paradox and many more. You can also import data in sequential and CSVformats. The Accounting Workstation Option can exchange data with ODBCdatabases like Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and the IBM DB2 UniversalDatabase . The product can process data from almost any external application,regardless of platform. This means you can import and export data into yourfavorite desktop applications and deliver information to business units in theformats of your choice.The desktop component of the Accounting Workstation Option contains all theexecutable modules, dynamic link libraries and other optional components.The Accounting Workstation Option stores data in two physical databases:v A master database on a networked file serverv A local database on your PCThe master database stores all application data and tables. It contains most of thestandard data tables that are used by the Accounting Workstation Option. Themaster database can be one of the following database formats:v Microsoft Jetv Microsoft SQL ServerThe local database stores all user data and some temporary application data. Itcontains any tables you create and the results of queries and functions. It is alwaysa Microsoft Jet database.1

Chapter 2. Installing, Modifying, Repairing and Removing theProductThe Accounting Workstation Option is distributed on CD as the AWO20.EXEprogram. Run this program to install the Accounting Workstation Option on one ormore workstations. Before you install the Accounting Workstation Option, ensurethat the workstation and file server meet the program requirements.For a detailed list, see “Program Requirements.”Note: You can use the setup program to install, remove, modify or repaircomponents of the Accounting Workstation Option.Program RequirementsThe following sections list the program requirements for the workstation and fileserver.Workstationv Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT Workstation 4.0 (SP3 orhigher)v IBM compatible Pentium II processorv 100 MHz I/O bus recommendedv 64 MB RAMv 100 MB disk storageFile Serverv Any network operating system (NOS) that supports a DOS or an NTFS filesystem; for example, Novell NetWare or Windows NT.v Data storage (1-25 GB)Intranet Requirementsv Microsoft NT Server 4.0 or Microsoft Windows 2000 Serverv Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS), 5.0 (or greater)SQL Server RequirementsWhen using the Accounting Workstation Option with SQL Server as your productMaster database format, the following SQL Server configuration settings arerequired:v The Sort Order must be set to ″Dictionary order″v The ″case insensitive″ option should be set to ″True″ (option button should bechecked) in the ″Character Set/Sort Order/Unicode Collation″ option settings.3

Installing the Accounting Workstation OptionTo install the Accounting Workstation Option:1. Close any applications. The Accounting Workstation Option setup programcannot install system files or update shared files if they are in use.2. Insert the Accounting Workstation Option CD in the CD-ROM drive and runthe SETUP.EXE program.The Choose Setup Language window opens:When the language has been selected, the Setup program prepares theInstallShield wizard:4IBM Tivoli Decision Support for OS/390 : Accounting Feature for the Workstation

Uninstalling the Accounting Workstation OptionTo uninstall the Accounting Workstation Option from your workstation:1. Close any applications.2. From the Add/Remove Programs Properties window select AWO 2.0 and clickAdd/Remove.The InstallShield Wizard Maintenance window opens:5. To remove the Accounting Workstation Option from your PC, select Removeand click Next.The Confirm File Deletion dialog window opens:6.
